    Q. What happens if there is a lien on my condo?

Can a previous owner, of a condo, own hundreds of thousands, on the condo from borrowing for years, hide this fact from his and your attorneys, then give it to you as part of a trust fund, all the while stiffing you with the `bill` which nobody knows about???

    Q. What happens if there is a lien on my condo?

"Now i owe $4300.00 or they sell my condo in 3 weeks..."

by no means get behind on condo fee`s, I got in a motor vehicle accident (very bad) my truck and 4 other vehicles totaled... then I had medical problems (internal bleeding) I got behind at first 6 months, then started paying back, condo fees at $160. I started with $800., then $300, $300, then $150 and $150 in same month .... then emergency room and they made me stay for over a week and I got out and a month later paid $320, and 1 week later ended up with a trustees sale on my door. NOW I owe $4300.00 or they sell my condo in 3 weeks. So total for getting behind $1600. I have to pay $6000. so I have to pay almost 4 years worth of condo fees just to get back to even, not to mention medical bills and cost of getting behind on everything else. sad sad situation

    Q. Why would the hoa put a lien on my condo when replaced items were different than promised?

    Powered by
Our hoa replaced 7 skylights in my condo. they sent me a letter telling me i would have to pay $450 each for the 7 skylights but that the skylights would be good quality worth between $700 to $900 and we would be getting a good deal with almost a 50% savings with a $450 price for each with my total being $3150 for all 7 skylights.. while the skylights were being replaced, i noticed how difficult it was for the contractor to get the skylights to fit the holes of the original skylights as there was a lot of cutting of the holes and the new skylights. they ended up not fitting nicely and there were over 1" gaps between the sheetrock and the new skylights.. because i was surprised and worried about the new skylights not fitting in nicely, i took the number off the skylight box and looked it up only to find out that we didn't get $700 to $900 skylights as the hoa promised but instead we got $225 economy skylights that velux makes up as a courtesy for those who cannot afford to buy from their regular line. the hoa made a mistake and purchased the wrong skylights. i purchased my condo because of the good skylights and was well informed about skylights by the sales person for the builder so i knew the importance of some upgrades you couldn't live comfortable without having and the economy ones had no upgrades.. beside the skylights not being the ones we were promised, all 7 of my skylights were getting condensation between the 2 panels of glass and velux told me that this could happen when the seals are broken by an inexperienced installer. the same contractor replaced our perfect roof without any leaks and gave us a new roof of a different color without our knowledge and the new roof installed on 4 condos leaked more than once in 3 of those 4 condos. the leaks that occurred in my condo ruined my living room tables and my furniture and all has to be replaced or repaired. the non tinted skylights after 2 years have faded my blue couch & love seat which now needs to be recovered. i asked the pm to put in a claim to our insurance company but i received a letter from the condo attorney telling me i would be committing fraud if i put in a claim. i later found out the pm hired an uninsured roofer so he wasn't able to take care of replacing or repairing my expensive ethan allen furniture. it never entered my mind that the hoa would not repair everything that was done incorrectly and replace the skylights with the correct ones they told us we were getting. i was sure they would have taken care of the inside of my condo damaged by the contractor's shoddy work and all of my furniture & belongings damaged during this job. i had ever intention of paying for the skylights that were promised when all of the repairs and replacements were done but the hoa didn't want to take care of any of their responsibilities in repairing what was damaged because the pm hired an uninsured contractor. to my amazement, the hoa certainly didn't help me or even feel bad but ignored me and they did the following: a $5500 lien was put on my condo. the lien is for $2350 more than we would have to pay if the better $900 skylights were installed but again we only got skylights worth $225 with a 50% discount would equal $113. . the hoa never even corrected the invoice to the 3 other condo owners because they used cheaper skylights but again i purchased my condo for the skylights and was fussier than others who did not.. the face value of the skylights sold at home depot which are defective are $1575. never in my life would i ever think that someone would be so very mean and only think of themself and damage someone's home without thinking twice but i have never been near anyone who had done something that was not needed because of a conflict of interest. i come from a small town in pa. where people help their neighbors and not try to profit on them by replacing items that do not need replacement with the cheapest materials on the market. what hoa changes a roof and skylights that still have life left and possibly the skylights that were removed that 31 other condo owners still have will outlast the new roof if the roof lasts. the economy skylights has a life expectancy of only 10 to 12 years. my heart will smile at any guidance you may have for me as i don't want to sue people i truly like because of a board that is not doing things for the sake of the condo owners...

A lien is a legal action. The only way to defend against it is additional legal action. You've been taken advantage of, so you'll have to fight back. Retain an attorney.

    Q. 10 points. a property owned by 2 people at risk for lien?

    Powered by
My mother co-signed for me on school loans through sallie mae and my sister who is going to put her on the deed of a property is worried. should there be default and garnishment on my student loans, will a lien be placed on their property? my guess is no because it's owned by 2 different people, one who is not tied to the student loans, but you never know.. unless of course you know the law. i have read about the homestead law which should protect anyone against this sort of forced ownership, but i'm just wondering outside of that law if there is a threat against the property. by the way, they're purchasing a condo in florida if that helps. any knowledge is fully appreciated! thanks in advance. my sallie student loans equal over $150,000. i was a brat and wanted to study and live in london, uk. i work in my field of study, but i'm getting paid as a junior. not because of lack of talent but because of a stupid negotiating mistake on my part. basically sallie mae wants me to pay $2100/monthly and that only covers the interest. how ridiculous is that? anyways, just keep the answers to cover legal bit please.

I have a Sallie Loan too... Their site is pretty vague on policies. You should check out this site instead: www.thelaw.com You can post a question and submit for a free case review too if you would like. While you do get legal advice, the terms & conditions state to not consider it official. At least this should be a starting point for your co-signer to reference. Good luck!
