"On canada - when you say bad credit..."

ON Canada - when you say bad credit, what does it mean? Email me and maybe I would be able to get you a mortgage. I need to understand what your definition is of a bad credit - victor_catalan@centum.ca

    Q. Hi i am aged 60 and on pension credit i am the sole owner of my house witch is paid for my wife left me?

    Powered by
She wants half money of house i dont want to sell as i cant afford to pay another mortage do i have to sell

"As more than likely when the house is sold and divided you will..."

That is a problem! As more than likely when the house is sold and divided you will not find house for you to buy (unless your house is large and in a good area) even if you go to the North-East and if you rent as you will have more then £6k then bang goes your PC.As you are sixty the chance of you getting a job is zero and as PC gives out £130 a week and more than likely your wife is younger and will be around after you curl your toes, why not put the house in her name all but 1% that stops her kicking you out later and she gets the house when you peg out and you still get PC your council tax paid and other goodies for being on PC.

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Want to retire and wife wants half of pension
      • What are my rights if my wife leaves and stops paying the house bills?
      • Can i see my half of the house without wife consent?

    Q. Pension and mortgage advice needed urgently?

    Powered by
This is the situation..... i have a mortgage at present of £31000 which equates to £255 per month which is due for maturity in 2020 and the value of the house is between 150,000-160,000. my wife lost her job recently and left me as the only breadwinner with a lowly income of £14322 gross per annum. having done all my calculations i have worked out that i have per month coming into the house approx £1288 (including child benefit, but no tax credit as we owe a back payment, and my wifes jsa) my outgoings in the month are approx £900 that therefore leaves me approx £380 to survive on food etc all month. we have one 11 year old at home and on 20 year old on a part time basis. my wife is finding it very difficult in this job market to gain employment but i could use a future pension pot to help..... i have a pot of £71000 invested with scottish widows and i could take this tomorrow as a lump sum of £18000 together with a small for life fixed pension of £192 per month net. i could then use the £18,000 to pay a lump sum of the mortgage, without incurring any charges/penalties. this would bring my mortgage down to £108 per month and this together with the extra pension income of £192 per month would make a great difference. however if i leave the pension the pot could easily grow and double by my real pension age of 65 ( i am now 53) i will have the state pension (?) and as i contracted out of s2p i have that invested with norwich union but the pot here is small. i am also now a civil servant and if i stay in my present employment until my pension age i should have built up a 15 year pension with the civil service......but my main reason for this post and my real doubt is....should i use the bigger pension pot of £71000 now to help reduce my mortage and give a small income...or leave it and let it mature and hope my wife gets a new job soon ( which she prob will ) i really hope some one can offer me some advice on this as it is a very worrying time. trevor twinem

H Trevor I'm probably the wrong person to contribute advice really because my philosophy is to live for today and enjoy life while you have it. Today you need some help; when you are 65 perhaps circumstances will be different but I'd cross that one when it raises its ugly head; times are hard right now (well actually they are not if you have a reasonable mortgage/rent and you are working) no, I would do exactly what you are proposing to enjoy some Q of life right now. Just my opinion nothing else Trevor. C

    Q. I used 401k to save home but now i have nothing to retire on, what now?

    Powered by
I had to take early retirement at 55 because my company downsized.i am working making 21000 yr and 10800 yr from pension, my mortage payment is 1077. per month, i have utilities, car (gas, repairs) insurance (life, car) food, medical, phone (cell) bills and i am struggling to make ends meet. . i cannot get a loan because i have destroyed my credit with slow payments, car repossesion, credit cards. how can i retire at 67 and survive

"Then you sell the house and rent an apartment in a..."

Hopefully it's a nice house that has been well cared for and has appreciated in value. Hopefully you have paid it off or have very little left to pay on it. Then you sell the house and rent an apartment in a senior citizen complex and use the money from the sell of the house to live on. Invest the money and live off the interest/dividends. Get a place you can afford that is small and will not have high utility bills, no yard maintenance, etc. Not the optimum situation, but it may be the only one.

    Q. I want to retire, should i?

    Powered by
I will have a meeting with administration on friday. there is a possibility i may be terminated because of a stupid action on my part; won't get into that. i've been told that it could go either way. might just be a suspension or other disiplenary action. i was thinking about retiring in march of this year on my birthday. to be frank, i'm sick of working for this company. there is never any recognition for a job well done and of course the typical back stabbing which goes on with every company i'm sure. i've been with this company for about 20 years and will have a small pension of about $2000 a month if i retire now. my mortage is a fixed 4.750% and my payment is $997 a month, includes taxes and insurance. i have no other debt. just the usual food, pg&e, utilities car insurance ect. no credit debt and have $30,000 in the bank. do you think i can survive on this? i was considering maybe a part time job to supplement my income. i will not be eligible for social security for another 3 years as i am just turning 59 in march. when i am 62 if i apply for social security i should be in pretty good shape with income. what should i do? i really don't want to work for the company anymore. too much bullsh--. thanks for reading and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.jack

    "If you do retire..."

i think i'd not want to continue working there. however, your $2000 will seem like $1000 in the near future, when inflation hits the country. in that light, if you do retire, you need to (a) get another job, and (b) not start social security until you have more years, and will get more money.
