Q. How do i assume full ownership of a jointly owned home?

My wife and i have separated. my wife has agreed to leave me the house. we jointly have a mortgage with td canada trust. i would like to get a mortgage with royal bank. wife and i have separated. wife has agreed to leave me the house. it is a jointly held mortgage. i need her name of the mortgage and deed.

When you go to refinance there will be a new "closing" and she will need to "sign off" on a release of ownership form that they will have as part of their standard forms. She can sign this in advance or even by mail-she doesn't have to be at the closing although they may want a notary to sign that it is really her signing it. Good luck
