    Q. What can i do for a quick 500 dollars to pay a college fee without having to get a job?

    Powered by
I live on ssi and if i get a real job i'll lose part of my check, which will mess every living situation up right now, if i do. i want to go back to college, after having to drop out because of a family situation. i only owe 500 dollars. i've been looking all over for under the table jobs but nothing is coming up and my patients has been getting the best of me because i have come to my sanity finally and want to get the fuck out of the house!!!! it's only 500 dollars and i want to make it fast, like, 1 month - 2 month fast. not 6-7 months of paying my left over check money, because i will lose my mind again only because i have ants in my pants now and i crave to get my brain going again and do something with my life and get outside again, 6 months is way to long because i am a very impatient person when it comes to seasons. rather than dwelling on all my troubles, which, ssi is really good at. i would so love to get a job but the economy is so shitty right now i don't trust it. i don't want to get a job, lose ssi then get fired or laid off and unable to get ssi again and college is then impossible. so i want to go to college while ssi pays for it(that's why i don't want to lose my ssi) then i'll be happy to oblige getting off ssi, once i graduate and have a successful college educated job. so how could i make 500 dollars really quick? no prostitution, no "escorting" nothing involving sin and illegal acts. so please be respectful if you are going to suggest something.

A couple of solid babysitting jobs should cover that

    Q. Is it ok to fight for some form of the 'american dream' while on social security disability?

    Powered by
I have a severe disability. i have collected ssdi (not ssi) for 7 years. i currently pay rent, and live like everyone else. however, lately i've been thinking that i want to take advantage of the housing crisis and purchase a severely discounted house. i've been saving for this opportunity for a long time. rent is going up faster than my disability checks and i want to hedge my bet on the future by actually buying something.

You can buy a home, you will need a statement from the social security office that your disability is permanent. This will not prevent you from buying a home that falls under your income level,

    Q. I think i may have had a stroke or strokes. i have no health insurance. how do i get a ct scan and get on ssi?

    Powered by
Hi all. i'm a 31 year old guy. i've never been married and i've never had any kids. i have a two year degree and a four year degree from college. all my life, i've suffered from painful migraines even though i've never gotten a clinical diagnosis by a doctor. my migraines have ruined my life in every way. they have cost me my independence, jobs i could've had, a serious relationship with a woman i once had that i was very deeply in love with, people thinking i'm lazy because i don't do certain things that much anymore overall, etc. but over the last approximate two years, i've been noticing some scary physical and mental changes in myself that are steady and are gradually getting worse. i frequently bump into things, i forget a lot more and suffer from short term memory loss, i get a migraine almost everyday with lots of pain, can't really focus, increased eye strain, trouble with my hands trembling more and more, having trouble writing now, my brain wants to move, read, and write fast, can't go to sleep normally, increase numbness and tingling in my body, plus much more. all my life, it never occurred to me until just recently, but my upper lip on my right side can't move up in the same way my left upper. i also have trouble speaking more and more and i stutter more and more too. it could be aphasia but i don't know. all these things have made my life a living hell. i'm very scared. i love to work and i want to just have a normal life. at this time, i want to go see a doctor to get a ct (cat scan) scan done on my brain and to get an accurate diagnosis. i really need help here. ever since i was 25 years old, i haven't had any health insurance. all this has caused me chronic stress and depression on a daily basis. i think i may have had a stroke or strokes. i have no health insurance. how do i get a ct and get on ssi? would social security pay for me to go see a doctor? i don't know how all this works. please help me. thanks.

Your symptoms sound like side-effects from your migraines. Even intermittent aphasia and/or stuttering can happen, but they aren't permanent. Your writing confirms you don't have aphasia of any lasting kind. Not having insurance doesn't necessarily mean you can't be treated. Low-income patients are considered to be "medically indigent" and can get services at a county hospital for a nominal fee. Once you're there, you'll see a primary doctor who will refer you to a neurologist. He/she will decide if a CT and/or other diagnostic tests are appropriate. See ssa.gov for info on the disability programs SSI and SSDI. You may be eligible for both; especially because this has gone on so long, is pretty well-documented, and interferes with your activities of daily living (ADLs), plus your inability to hold a job. Even if you eventually qualify, Medicare doesn't kick in for two years, so you'll have to have other care in the meantime. Most private hospitals have a charity program to help the uninsured or the under-insured. Check around.

    Q. What if you had to live off of $643/month income & pay $325 rent?

    Powered by
Can you survive off of that, knowing you got to pay for transportation? should i get a job? i don't mean to sound unappreciative of my ssi & social security benefits, but it's not enough. i have a college degree & can't find any jobs, & i have a mental disability. i'm going to be starting grad school soon. teens who work @ fast food restaurants make more than i do.

Try to find a job that is close to home that maybe you can walk too. Have you tried grocery stores? We all struggle with hard time hang in there candy! God has plan for you.....maybe a casserole restarant!! :) goodluck!!

    Q. Ssi overpayment. how long does it take for an appeal?

    Powered by
Supplemental security income overpayment. i had too much in the bank. i owe 10,500. i submitted the forms last week. how long does it take for an appeal? the response letter hasnt come in the mail yet. supposedly the overpayment started since may 2008 and was calculated to january 2010. if this was happening since then, how come they didnt warn me immediatly? my current ssi monthly amout $845. i pay rent $200, denatl bills are $100 every month, groceries are about $120. i wrote that they can deduct $200 from my ssi check instead of $84. i want to get rid of this debt as fast as i can. they migth start deducting in august if they agree with my desicion. no links please i am in college and i get financial aid. if i have some left over can i use it to pay some of my debt? as soon as my investment cd matures in august, i will close it permently. it has 1,281. should i just lower the interest rate? california on the letter i got it says that only 10% can be deducted.

That's what I think as well (in some regards anyways). SSA moves at a snail's pace. It will be 4 to 6 weeks before you hear back, which does in fact put it at around early August. I don't think they will accept your offer though. They have their own rules - which I believe state that they can only withhold 10% of your benefits ($84.50 per month in this case).

    Q. How to repair my credit history?

    Powered by
I need help in fixing my credit history.. im wanting to pay off all my debts with payments ? my credit is really bad. and i was wondering if i end up paying all the things i owe would it get better? and if so how fast? and is there any angency that would help me ? im on ssi and ss benifets and im trying to work out my bad history.. it makes life living bad cus you can't do anything ... i try to apply to this apartment and they turn me down.. so if you can help me that would be great.. thanks

No matter how bad your credit is, you can take steps that will make it better. 1. Pay all of your bills on time. Late payments (payments that are 30 days late or more) have a negative effect on your credit rating. 2. Reduce the number of credit cards you carry. Write to your creditors to request that they close your accounts and report this status change to all three credit-reporting agencies 3. Avoid bankruptcies, tax liens (a lien for not paying state or federal income taxes or property taxes) and collections. A bankruptcy stays on your credit report for up to 10 years. Collection accounts and paid tax liens stay on for seven years, and unpaid tax liens will haunt you forever. 4. Request in writing that your creditors reduce the credit limits on your accounts to lower your amount of available credit. The total amount of available credit is considered by lenders even if you owe nothing. 5. Ask a family member or friend to co-sign on a small loan or credit card to help you re-establish credit. Make your payments on time. 6. Get a secured credit card to help reestablish your credit. You will have to keep a designated amount of money in an account that will be sufficient to cover your charges. Make payments on time. 7. Get a yearly copy of your credit report to catch any errors (see 'eHow to Obtain a Copy of Your Credit Report'). When you have a friend or relative co-sign on a loan or credit card, remember that that person's credit will be affected by the payment history as well. Credit-repair clinics and consumer credit agencies arrange repayment plans and restructure payments to fit your budget. But even if the creditor agrees to the plan, smaller payments and skipped payments can still be reported against you. Some credit-repair clinics charge up to $2,000 up front to get the paperwork started and cover administrative fees. Some CCAs are free. You can call the creditors yourself and make these same arrangements for free.

    Q. Ssi and medicaid question?

    Powered by
My 12 month old cousin has sma type 1 he has a trach and just now got to come home from the hospital and he needs a lot of help with stuff and he was approved for ssi and medicaid when he was in the hospital and when he got home they said his dad makes to much money for him to be on it and the only way is for them to have it is for them to spit up and the baby live with the mama but his daddy doesn't make enough money to pay a house note and buy all of his medical supplies that he needs he has to have 24/7 nurse care at home and medicaid was paying for them and if they don't figure something out fast he will lose his nurses does anyone have any suggestions on what they can do i know there is people out there that is getting checks from the government that don't need them and people like him that is helpless and needs all the help he can get cant get a check or any help!! what he has is a muscle weakness in baby's that is the #1 killer of infants and he is doing better now that he is home and not in the hospital he cant be around a lot of people because a simple cold could send in back in the hospital and could kill him so no rude comments please and they are not just wanting money they really need all the help they can get for him it is really exspensive to buy his hospital bed, special stoller to put him in and all of his machines he has to have thanks for everyone that answer with some helpful info the reason he has to have 24/7 nurse care is he has a trach and has to be monitored all the time to make sure his vital signs are staying where they need to be and nothing goes wrong ..... that does not mean he needs to be in a medical facility he is doing just fine at home it will aventully go to 12 hours a day with a nurse they are just helping with him to because he had a rough time in the hospital for 3 month when we didnt think he was going to live !! the state is texas and the baby that is going threw all of this just now turned a year old

SSI is based on the income level of everyone in the household. So what they are telling you is true. I am sorry that your cousin is ill. Perhaps this child needs to be living in a medical facility not at home, if they need that much skilled nursing care. Can not help but wonder what kind of life this child is going to have, being so sick right from the start. Good luck.

    Q. What fast food place should i work at?

    Powered by
I am 24 yrs old never had a real job & want to start working so i have something to do when i'm not in college. i also need it to pay off all the credit cards i owe.i get ssi right now i don't know if its best to go to the work force center or to just apply. i applied at mcdonalds went in & talked to the hiring manager. she said she would call me back but she never did. i don't know what else to do i really need a job.

Chik-fil-a or Arby's. You want a job with a good atmosphere and customers who care where they eat at. if they're paying an arm and a leg for fast food, they're generally more polite.

    Q. How is a credit score of 519 for someone who was financial abused for 3 years (and in the end couldn't pay?

    Powered by
Any of the bills at all. and what is the best way to bring my score back up? as of now i had a student loan for $1200 which i plan on paying over the course of 12 months, how much will that help me? because as of now that's the only real thing showing for credit. i live on ssi too. i know i am also waiting for things to drop off. do you think i could get a secure credit card with a score like that? i want to bring my score up as fast as i can. thanks! i'm thinking about trying orchard after i get my ssi in on friday, since with a secure card you made a deposit before they will issue you a card. i may also go to my bank and see if they do a secure card also (as i heard sometimes it is a bit easier to get one from the bank that you use.) i will be paying back my ssi from this dec. - next year dec. as i picked just 12 months to pay it off since i know i only have for sure 12 more months on ssi as after that i get my review. i'm hoping that helps out a decent amount and i hope to get a secure card as i'll be cool with just using it for like $50 on like a video game or two or something small i need around the house and pay it off every month (or is it better to keep a balance going?)

Quick note: You are waiting for items to drop off. Be careful, these collection agencies tend to sue you right before the statute of limitations is up. If you have money put aside, and you get sued, keep an eye on your savings account (in other words - stash some money in your underwear drawer). They cannot sue you if your only income is SSI. Onlly the government can tap into government money. Student loans can come after you, but outside creditors cant. Also, you can be turned down for a secured card. But, I still want you to try. Citi, Orchard, and Discover all have good ones Remember - no games. Replace the funds in full each month. And never use more than 30% of the limit. Ex: $300 limit - never use more than $90 on that card ----- Don't keep a balance going on that card. Just use it for something small you need and pay it off. Use it at least every 6 months
