    Q. At what age most canadians pay off their mortgage debt and live mortgage free in their primary residence?

Hello Anon, in Canada we do have a nice percentage of homeowners that are mortgage free but the numbers did decline more recently. The statstics from Stats Canada have been updated last in 2006 so the following data is a little old. Here is what we know so far. "For owner households with a primary maintainer aged 24 and under, the share with mortgages rose from 80.7% in 2001 to 82.0% in 2006. For owner households with a primary maintainer aged 25 to 34, the share rose from 89.8% to 91.2%. For primary household maintainer age groups 55 and over, mortgage-free home ownership was the most common tenure. Of all households with a primary maintainer aged 55 to 64, about 43.6% were mortgage-free owners, 34.0% were owners with mortgages and 22.3% were renters. The proportion of mortgage-free owners rose to 57.6% for households with a primary maintainer aged 65 to 74, and was slightly higher for those with a primary maintainer aged 75 and over." I hope this info helps, I wish we had more updated info but I guess we will have to wait for the next Canadian Census to find out more. Q. How long can a canadian citizen live in another country without losing retirement benefits and healthcare?

    Powered by
My boyfriend is canadian, i am an american. we are researching how best to join our lives. i have begun to lookinto dual citizenship (grandparents never naturalized), but want to exhaust all possibilities.

    "As far as retirement benefits..."

The health benefits are good only in Canada. As far as retirement benefits, you can have your CPP payments sent to you whereever you are in the world. Old Age is only good if you live in Canada.

    Q. I want to marry a canadian, in the us, and him live there wih me--what's the first step?

    Powered by
I have a passport-i know he needs one too. how long can i be in canada to visit without a work visa. i am near retirement age anyway--thanks!

"Who wanted to marry and australian and live in australia..."

The first thing to do is either go to the US embassy in the country you are in or go to the Dept of Immigration in the US. You need to this to find out the rules that you use. I know one person in the US who wanted to marry and Australian and live in Australia , but found she was too old and couldn't. So find the best and easiest way to do what you plan to do.'

    Q. Istn't it a good thing that canadians in general are good natured?

    Powered by
In the capital of canada, in ottawa, the last days have been a big turmoil.. public transport in the whole of canada's capital city, ottawa, have gone on strike.. they want more paid sick leave, they want to choose their own routs they prefer, they want the bus drivers who have seniority to be able to choose their own shifts. also just work short shifts.. this means for students.. who write exams before christmas, at least for some of them.. to hire a car... one female student hired a car for $ 500 for 9 days so she can get to uni and write her exams.. students don't have that much money.. there are single mothers who don't own a car.. and what if someone needs to go to hospital and is not quite in need of an ambulance but has a bad cut? how are they going to get there? no transport and the taxi service is booked to the hilt.. nobody can get a booking.. they have enough people waiting in queue and those who manage to get the promise a taxi will be available will have to wait for 2 hours.. as there are thousands of stranded people out there looking for alternative ways to get to work or to uni...and to get a taxi every day.. that is expensive.. about $60 if one lives like me approx 14 miles out of downtown but we are part of the capital...that i can't afford to pay.. the taxi drivers already make good money. a trained nurse who went to university and is an rn approximately earns $ 45.000 here in ottawa.. a bus driver is an unskilled worker. he doesn't even need a high school dipoloma.. and they earn more than a nurse.. they get approx. $50.000 or $60.000 a year and benefits and a lot of sick leave.. i am usually a kind person who always says good morning and thank you to bus drivers, but as 98 % of all ottawa bus drivers are on the side of the union, i don't think i will ever be very polite to any ottawa bus driver again.. if i get somewhere i won't say thank you or please.. they don't deserve it.. people who leave anywhere in walking distance leave their home 2.5 hours early to walk to work in minus 16 degrees celsius. that's darn cold and with snow which was quite high yesterday.. the leader of the union already said..''this strike will take a long time'' i guess that means.. no bus services at all until the new year'' . if they lived in the usa or elsewhere.. some people of the public who rely on public transport would get enraged enough to take a pot shot at the bloody union leader and at the bus drivers.. if they are not giving up their strike. this costs the city millions if they let the drivers with seniority choose their own schedule and only work the hours they want and drive the routes they want.. a nurse can't decide what shift she likes to work.. and she can't say.. next week i want to work just for 4 hours all week long and i want to work at this or that long term care home or retirement home because that's were friends of mine work.. so i decide where i will work... people here are desperate.. the roads are clogged with traffic into downtown.. my family we don't have a car because we can't afford one.. and to car pool that works sometimes.. today and tomorow my husband gets a ride downtown .. because a lady who works at the supreme court in downtown ottawa .. her husband doesn't need his van.. so my husband registered for carpooling.. and she lives nearby and phoned him.. but what happens if this strike really goes on until the new year.. don't we, ottawa citizens have a right to be mad at the union leader and at the bus drivers for their ridiculous demands and this all at a time when it's freezing outside and people have to get to work or lose their job? they get paid . the bus drivers get paid $14 per hour.. whilst on strike. when some desperate woman.. walks for 2.5 hours into downtown in freezing weather to get to a job that pays her $ 10 an hour.. am i not entitled to feel angry at the drivers and the union and that in future i am not going to be polite to a driver anymore.. knowing what they put us through.. i won't be impolite.. but if i talk to them i will never use the words ''please '' or ''thank you again'' to ottawa bus drivers like i used to do. they really dont' deserve it. or does anyone see it in a different way... nice for the ottawa school kids who have to rely on buses.. they don't have to go to school. their christmas vacation has already started..

You're right about one thing. When two years ago, the MTA here in New York tried to pull this one off, people got really pissed and went on the streets ! People like you and me, who don't have a car and rely on public transportation ! I hate Unions, period. They aren't really helping the workers here or anywhere. Schools are paralyzed with parasite teachers who go "by the curriculum of Idiots" and Schools can't just "fire a teacher, because she cries in the corridor of the school because her 5th graders drove her insane". How about those students who are good? Who want to learn? They are left behind because Bush implemented the so called "no child left behind" program into Public Schools. It is very unfortunate what is happening in Ottawa but only "the crowd, the people protesting" could make a difference ! I hope, these issues in Canada can be resolved as soon as possible and I also hope, this experience, can bring some sort of "solidarity" between citizens !!!!!!!!!!!!

    Q. More on the edge tribute at sd! + major hof rumors?

    Powered by
After the smackdown! taping finished last night in albany, ny, christian and edge hugged in the ring and gave the crowd a "five second pose." then the entire wwe roster in attendance, including triple h, came out on the ramp to pay tribute to edge. big show, rey mysterio, chavo guerrero and triple h all edge and christian in the ring. edge gave a long speech to the live crowd, thanking everyone from the ring crew to catering on down. he mentioned kane as one of his closest friends in the business next to christian and thanked lita and vickie guerrero. he then said he was going home to vacation and lay low and play with his dogs. if anyone has a video of this, please email me at webmaster@prowrestlingscoops.com. our fans really need to see this as i was there live and this was incredible. there are rumors within wwe that wrestlemania in 2013 will take place in toronto and that both edge and trish stratus will go into the hall of fame. more soon. -- many more stars paid tribute to edge via their twitter accounts: john cena - "cenation. i am very proud of edge for all that he has accomplished. he is certain to be in the hall of fame. im proud to have had so many great moments with him. he is a true wrestling purist and one of the smartest people i've had the pleasure of wrestling with. for your last match to be a championship win at wrestlemania ...is a damn good finish to one helluva career." the rock - "edge - you are my brother, an inspiration and define the word "superstar". thank you adam.. for everything." randy orton - "will miss edge not only in ring, but in the lockeroom even more. he was one of the few who i could call a friend. i learned alot from him." goldust - "much rather edge be happy and safe without hurting further" beth phoenix - "seeing edge say goodbye was surreal. he is irreplaceable." sinn bodhi - "yes it's real about adam... no comment... except, love you fatty!" gangrel - "posse up edge! one love. there would be no brood without @christian4peeps and edge was very sad to hear the news but happy to see him start a new life!" mick foley - "a sad day for wrestling, but what an amazing career for edge. i was so fortunate to have been his opponent, his partner, his friend. rikishi - "edge you've done well. thank you for your friendship my canadian uce !!! enjoy full-time with family now " sean waltman - "beside's i love the guy & i hope he enjoys his retirement, for how ever long it may be. he deserves everything he achieved" matt hardy - "heard adam is retiring because of physical issues that won't allow him to safely continue wrestling. he'll be missed, we've certainly had our fair share of issues.. both good and bad. but i tip my hat to edge who is one of the greatest i've ever been in the ring with. adam resides in nc now-sure i'll run into him down the road. glad that him & i are in a good place. we came in as friends, & went out that way." shannon moore - "yeah my wife told me about edge turning in his boots last night. i'm happy that he knows when the ring is a danger. you guys remember that wrestling is a biz to us and luxury to you. edge will do great in his next steps of life. thank you edge for all the bumps and bruises that you put your body through. you where one of the best in the ring. hopefully some young guys takes notes. young man does well for himself =makes money=saves money=retires young=lives ever after a good life. who knows he might get better and make a big return. you never know!!!!!" seth rollins - "it's sad...and scary for me." steve corino - "i always enjoyed edge. good dude too. always nice (must be the canadian in him). good luck to him in his future. def hof guy." mvp - "you know edge the performer. i know edge the person. 1 of the best in ring performers ever. his mind for our craft is amazing! hof'er!" tara - "good luck to edge on his future endeavors. he will be missed. but he is going to love retirement. enjoy !" blue meanie - "is shocked at hear that edge is having to retire from wrestling......while i will miss watching him perform i am glad the diagnosed him in time to spare any further damage......he is a great guy. one of my favorite opponents that i had in the wwf......his success has been well deserved and i wish him i happy and health rest of his life." shad gaspard - "i'm extremely sad to hear about edge being forced to retiring. one of the few upstanding guys left in the business and a great locker room leaders. glad he can leave a champion & on top after a great match at wm. adam you will be missed. frankie kazarian - "true class act. a boy with a dream is now a man who has left behind an incredible legacy. thank you for all you have g

Everyone loves Edge...as a performer and as a person. It was sad because who would have thought that WM 27 against Del Rio was gonna be his last match? But it would have been even more shocking and sad if he died all of the sudden so...I'm happy that he's retiring now that he still can and is still kinda healthy. Now if WWE is smart...they will replace Edge with the only man i think Edge can be replaced now (Christian) because i know that this replacement for Edge will continue to pay tribute to his best friend.

    Q. Both my and my canadian fiances money matters are a mess; how do we find one money advisor?

    Powered by
My fiancee is here in nova scotia, w/in 8yrs of retirement, and his credit is a disaster; i live below the poverty level on less than $600/mo on disability, supplemental social security, in govt. subsidized housing in america, can't afford to turn my heat on, don't have a car and my credit is equally bad. as he is in the hotel field and i have a degree in it and could start into the field within a year, i might be able to work within a year or 2. due to donations, we have the basics for a wedding (will need rings) but one of us clearly needs to relocate and we need money advice!!! where do we look, who do we go to? our banks? help!!! we come from poor, long gone families that can't help, and i have preteen children that i don't have custody of, but are with me, from time to time. we have citizenship issues to consider, too. where do we go for advice?

"To break the question of where to live down to smaller pieces..."

Sounds like a lot to consider. I think you need to break the question of where to live down to smaller pieces . First, emotionally where would you both be more comfortable living. More importantly, financially where can you afford to live. Can you afford loosing your social benefits from the US to live in Canada? Can he find a job in the US? Maybe you need to postpone the wedding until you can work. Once you sort out where you can afford to live, then you can look for financial advisors who is in the country you chosen. Rules about finance are specific to the government. You wouldn't want someone in Canada advising you about US and vice versa. Best wishes.
