how long does it take to receive an express package from canada to ny

I`m in BC, I recently had 2 packages sent to me seperately, sent weeks apart , both via USPS, from 300 miles away in Washington State. Both times the packages got routed through New York City.... ie across the country and back. I calculate they travelled 6000 miles.

I ordered a package online and it shipped out today. it is being shipped through usps priority mail international from newark, california, united states to british columbia, canada. i'm wondering how long it takes before the package arrives. is it less than ten days? also, if it was shipping through usps express mail international, how long would that take? thanks, and please answer soon! :)

USPS International Priority Mail will take around 6-10 business days. International Express would be 3-5 days. CH

Your package is undoubtedly held up going through Customs. One possibility is that it didn't have the proper Customs declaration on it. In any event, there are so many parcels passing through Canadian Customs every day that you have to expect a certain amount of time for processing . A week to ten days is not unusual.

Hello there, recently i ordered an item online and decided to purchase usps emi service as i am on a time constraint. usps emi estimated delivery time is 3-5 days quote from their website. it has now been 5 days and my parcel hasn't even left american soil. my parcel was shipped from miami fl (19th of february) > vancouver bc (awaiting). there have been no status updates since february 19th 2011. now my concern is that they've placed my parcel in the competent hands of ground mail. this makes absolutely no sense to me because florida and british columbia are complete continental opposites and there's no way that my package could even leave america within the allotted time frame of 3-5 days and even enter canadian customs. i know for a fact that packages coming to my address from l.a cali using priority mail international and chicago il using pmi as well, arrive within a week. for example my package from chicago with usps pmi will be on a truck to windsor ont and then canada post will place it on a plane via vancouver bc. so why is my emi shipment not inbound to canada on a plane? there is no possible way that it could reach its destination within a reasonable time frame via ground mail. before you ask, i do know for certain that my parcel is inbound with ground mail because i spoke with usps and told them my latest tracking update: your item left the united states from isc miami fl (usps) at 11:04 am on february 19, 2011. information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. please check again later. this doesn't mean that the parcel has actually left usa. usps told me that this simply means that the parcel is in the process of leaving usa. so what the hell is going on with usps? will i get a refund? because i paid for express shipping and i won't be living at this address in a few days. i expected my delivery to arrive in a decent time frame (that of how long my pmi shipments take, or better) however this is taking longer than anything i've ordered pmi. canada customs will take a day or two at least and then to actually deliver the parcel to my city will take a day or two. pmi in the past has managed to process my parcels through the united states within 2-4 days and deliver them to canada customs. is that express mail or express mail international because it clearly states 3-5 days on the usps website (excluding 24 hours for items held in customs). even if it were 5-7 days, theres no possible way that it can arrive in canada and at my doorstep within 3-5 days or 5-7 days. the item was shipped on the 18th of february. full tracking information is below: detailed results: bullet international dispatch, february 19, 2011, 11:04 am, isc miami fl (usps) bullet arrival bullet processed through sort facility, february 19, 2011, 6:12 am, miami, fl 33112 bullet processed through sort facility, february 18, 2011, 7:20 pm, orlando, fl 32899 bullet acceptance, february 18, 2011, 1:21 pm, winter park, fl 32789 bullet electronic shipping info received, february 18, 2011
