    Q. If i put a deposit down while buying a house but the home inspection fails do i loose my deposit?

"Should be able to get back your deposit especially if the inspection showed that..."

ON Canada - your offer should be subject to financing approval and inspection approval. You should be able to get back your deposit especially if the inspection showed that it is a structural problem. You can also ask the seller to remedy the problem prior. It would be better to talk to your real estate agent and advise them you want to pull out due to the results of the home inspection. This assumes that everything was done within the allocated time frame as per the purchase and sale agreement.

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Deposit needed for home 400 000
      • Do i lose my deposit if the home inspection is no good?
      • Does the home seller pay for the home inspection in ontario canada?

    Q. How much money do i need to deposit in a savings account so that i won't need to work again?

    Powered by
I want to live comfortably and travel 5 times a year without ever working or running a business. that means i need $ 400,000 interest per year. so how much money do i need to save in a bank savings account.

At the moment, banks are not giving much in interest at all. Interest rates are way down, and it does not look like they will get anywhere near reasonable in the next few years. To get 400,000 a year interest requires a very large amount of money if it is interest at under 2% per annum. You will need to bank at least $20,000,000 (that's twenty million dollars) to make that much interest at two per cent per annum. Good luck.

    Q. Help needed, what is the bank's reserve ratio? with no decimal point or fraction.?

    Powered by
Assets liabilities reserves:$100,000 deposits:$500,000 loans:$400,000 i don't want the answer and i want to the way that you used to find this ratio.i tried like that 100000/100000:500000/100000=1/5.is it right but it says in the question no demical point or fraction.what i can do?

The reserve ratio is often given as a percentage so you could say 20% or just 20.

    Q. In order to be rated as a millionaire, does the money need to be liquid?

    Powered by
A friend of mine has £400,000 in the bank and approx £800,000 in assets (paid off mortgage, boats and cars, fixed deposit investments etc). he claims he is a millionaire in casual conversation which is a little annoying. is he? ps, i don't mean it is annoying that he is a millionaire, i mean it is annoying that he brags about it to everyone. i would love it if there was some technical hitch so i could dispute his claim.

"But hes also crazy keeping £400k as a cash deposit in the bank..."

yes he is, but hes also crazy keeping £400k as a cash deposit in the bank, proper millionaires invest wisely and don't brag.

    Q. Can agent ask for 3months advanced payment with deposit?

    Powered by
My husband and i picked a house to rent. after submitting the rental application and paying a $25 fee for a credit report, the agent came back to us and said that our credit is below 680 and in order for him to give us the house, we would need to pay a deposit of $3,000 and 3months of rent (2,600 per month) upfront in addition to the rent that would be due june 1st (the day we move in).. all totalling $13,400. at this time, it was already may 30 and we agreed to the terms. over the said reassured us that the property was now ours an that he would draw docs and have us meet him to pay the deposit and sign the required docs. we gave a 30notice to our current landlord, bought boxes, started packing and gave our jobs a 2week notice. in the morning of june 1st, we got a call from him telling us that he could no longer rent to us because after looking into our credit again, he and his client feel that it would be too risky. my question is.. is it legal for a landlord to charge a 3month advanced rent? also, can the agent back out after a verbal contract? can we take legal action towards the agent/landlord since it us cost us to giving our current landlord a 30 notice, our jobs a notice to quit and our friends and families that we are moving?

"Anything wrong with charging a bigger security deposit based on a poor credit rating..."

I don't see anything wrong with charging a bigger security deposit based on a poor credit rating . Sounds like the agent handled it poorly though. Don't really know if you have grounds to sue though.

It depends on your state, but they are not doing it anyway, Mute point. As for the rest, they have every right. I wold have backed out too if I heard you quit your job. Now you have bad credit and no job.

    Q. I need help with money multiplier!?

    Powered by
Consider a small city-state with a central bank, which conducts monetary policy, and just one commercial bank, first city bank, where customers can open demand deposit accounts. the table below shows the t-account for first city bank. people have $500,000 in demand deposits at first city and $100,000 worth of city-state bonds. the bonds are not part of the money supply. use this information to answer the following questions. reserves: $100,000 deposits: $500,000 loans: $400,000 10.5. again, after the central bank buys bonds from the public, people deposit the $50,000 in proceeds in their accounts at first city bank. assuming the bank holds no excess reserves and all loans are redeposited in the bank, by how much will the money supply have increased after the money multiplier process is complete? i think the answer is 250,000. but i'm not sure. please help! a. $50,000 b. $500,000 c. $800,000 d. $250,000 using the information in the post! thanks though ron!

"For every $1 a bank has on deposit it can lend $5..."

None of the above. In the U.S.: THE answer is $3,000,000. Three Million Dollars Did you know for EVERY $1 a bank has on deposit it can lend $5 ? Yep! Why do you think banks would like to see 20% down payments on homes? THAT IS THE REASON! Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name!

    Q. I need help with an accounting problem?

    Powered by
What is the amount that should be reported as cash? checking account balance = $920,000 certificate of deposit = $1,300,000 cash advance to subsidiary= $1,000,400 utility deposit paid to gas company= $300 how did you get the answer? i have tried and i keep making a mistake. thank you

"The utility deposit definitely does not qualify as cash also..."

Cash reported on the balance sheet equals only the amounts that are extremely liquid (i.e. can be readily spent). In this case only the Checking Account qualifies. While a CD is cash like, it is reported as a cash equivalent, or a short term investment as there are usually restrictions on their redemption (or as they say "severe penalties for early withdrawal". The cash advance to subsidiary does not qualify as it definitely cannot be easily converted to cash; as first the funds would need to be retrieved from the subsidiary. This balance would be reported as an intercompany accounts receivable. It is usually reported as a current asset. The Utility Deposit definitely does not qualify as cash also. That balance is usually reported as a long term asset, as the service for which the deposit was required will likely be used for a longer period than just the next 12 months.

How to fight spam and scams: #1: Yahoo has a spamguard filter, but only if multiple users report an address as spam will it be treated as such by the filter. You have a personal list for blocking addresses in spam options. Anything you mark as spam in Mail classic will be added to that list, in New Yahoo mail adding addresses to the list has to be done manually. If you ever receive anything from those addresses in the future, it will be deleted automatically, you won't even notice when you got some more crap from them. One problem though: the list of blocked addresses is limited to 500 and spammers often change their address. So you must sometimes delete some of the older blocked addresses to make room for new ones. Go to this link where everything is explained in detail: http://help.yahoo.com/us/tutorials/mail/mail/spamguard1.html #2: The Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) is supposed to help you eliminate spam mails. Forward spam to: spam@uce.gov, in the subject line enter something like "unsubscribe link results in more spam", "unwanted spam message", "no unsubscribe link" or something similar. When the FTC gets your mail, they will look into the matter and when they find out who the spamming source is, they will take legal actions. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/spam/index.html #3: Check Mailwasher, it helps to eliminate spam from your inbox... Set up your email account(s) in MailWasher and hit the "Check Mail" button. It then downloads all new message headers and displays message details alongside each one (priority, subject, from, to, etc.). Any email that MailWasher considers to be spam is highlighted for easy sorting. Two checkboxes are located next to each message header: "Delete" and "Bounce". If you click "Delete" the email will be marked for deletion, click "Bounce" and the mail will be marked for bouncing - a fake "address not found" email will be sent to the sender. Once you have decided what to bounce and delete, click "Process Mail" to get it done and your mail client launched for downloading all accepted emails. MailWasher has a "blacklist" and a "friends list" to enter good and bad email addresses. Addresses in the blacklist are marked for deletion, and addresses in the friends list will be marked as okay. Filters can be set to increase MailWasher's effectiveness. You can have email addressed to "undisclosed recipients" automatically deleted and bounced for example. Note: the program is free but limited to one email account, and doesn't include Hotmail support. MW Pro supports multiple mail accounts. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/vnunet/downloads/2128814/mailwasher
