    Q. Can i sell my home if i purchased it less than a year ago?

You can but there may be huge penalties involved. Speak to your bank to find out. There is no harm in asking.

    Q. What do i do if i purchased a motorcycle/vehicle and im the 2nd person to have the title changed?

    Powered by
Transferred. i did not purchase the vehicle from the lean holder but the 2nd person. they did not even know there was a lean on it. they owned the motorcycle for approx 3yrs and now i have owned for 8months and want to sale it. any suggestions????

"It is clear that there is no lien owed..."

You could pay an attorney $2,000 to straighten this out for you. Or you just keep the cycle for so long that it is clear that there is no lien owed . Then DMV would allow you to resell it. But it might have a lien on it and you could lose the bike..

      • How long by law does a bank have to release a lien?

    Q. Is there a safe way to purchase a vehicle that has a lean against it?

    Powered by
The owner doesn't have the money and doesn't have credit. she suggested that after i contact the lending company, i go to the bank with her and deposit the money order into the accounts, then get the title the next day. is there a safe way to do this?

"The bank and make arrangements for the title to be released to you at..."

Rather than depositing the money in the account, the seller should contact the bank and make arrangements for the title to be released to you at the time that you (and she) go in with certified funds. You do not want to put money in her account without getting the title. The way this would work is simple. She contacts the bank, and gets the exact payoff amount of the loan. She sets an appointment to come in with you to pay off the loan and get the title. You bring certified funds (cash, bank check) with her to the bank. The bank takes the payoff funds, and gives her the title. She signs the title to you. If there is any more money due her, you pay her at that time. The bank notarizes the title if that is required. You take the title with you, she can deposit any funds left over or take that home in cash. The entire transaction is done before you leave the bank. Unless you are getting the title in hand, do not pay for the car.

    Q. Am i ok to buy this vehicle with a lean in place?

    Powered by
Hi all i have just arrived in ontario canada from england to buy my first vehicle. i have found the perfect second hand truck on a car lot and have left a deposit for it. i ran an online check called car proof which showed that there was a lean on the truck with the auction house the garage purchased the car from. after speaking with the garage they said the lean shown was because they buy all their vehicles on a line of credit from the auction house and the usual thing they do to sell the truck would be to get a letter of no interest from the auction house (the lean owner) saying that they had no further interest in the vehicle. i have this letter and it says: the name of the auction house, no longer has interest in the following vehicle registered against: the name of the car lot i am buying it from and then gives the serial number etc or the truck. i called the auction house to verify that they sent the letter and they did and i also asked what it meant and was told that the lean would be removed in 7 days and that they had no hold on the vehicle any more but could not sisclose details to me and i would have to deal with the car lot. i called the car lot as the carproof system still shows that the lean is in place and they said that the lean is paid once they receive the money for the vehicle and this was the normal procedure. they also said that it was the law that they had to pay the lean off once they had sold the truck to me otherwise they would have to pay the money back to me. my question is can someone verify that this is all ok and that this is the normal way things work here when buying a vehicle as i am concerned that technically although i have the letter of no interest from the lean owner i am still buying a truck that has a lean on it although i am told this gets paid off on completion of the deal? sorry to ramble on but without the background the question would not make much sense. sorry lean should read lien!! still new to all of this!

"But all that is needed is that lien release letter.but your carlot will replace..."

normally id say is walk away, but all that is needed is that lien release letter.but your carlot will replace the lienholder unless you pay outright.

    Q. Should i buy a car from a private seller if he still has a lean on the title?

    Powered by
I would like to purchase a vehicle from a private owner, but he still owes usaa money for the vehicle. should i purchase the vehicle and what should i do to make sure that i will not get scammed?

"Got a letter releasing the lean and handed them the title..."

I just sold a car with a lien on it. The buyers issued cashiers checks and followed me to the bank. I paid off the loan, got a letter releasing the lean and handed them the title. They went straight to the DMV and got a plate and then came and got the car. It really isn't that big a deal. If the seller makes a big deal out of it then it may be questionable. Good luck.

"Each vehicle registered in new york state must..."

Motor vehicles are required, by law, to be in safe operating condition whenever they are driven on a public street or roadway in New York State. Each vehicle registered in New York State must be inspected at least every 12 months. The inspection must be done before the expiration date of the current inspection sticker, and whenever the vehicles becomes registered in a different name. When a vehicle inspection is requested, and inspection station must inspect any vehicle it is licensed to inspect, or must provide in writing, an appointment date that is within eight working days. If an appointment is made, the station may require a deposit that cannot exceed the inspection fee. The inspection must be done in a licensed inspection station displaying an official sigh, and must be performed by a certified motor vehicle inspector. If your vehicle fails the safety and/or emissions inspection, the inspection station must have your permission before beginning any repairs. You are not required to have your vehicle repaired or re-inspected at the station that performed the initial inspection. Your vehicle may be taken to any registered repair shop, or you may make the required repairs yourself. Your vehicle must then pass a new inspection, at an inspection station of your choice, before an inspection sticker will be issued. It is a misdemeanor for an inspector to knowingly issue, or a motorist to knowingly accept, an inspection sticker unless a full and proper inspection has been performed. So it looks to me like your vehicle is going to have to not only be inspected but must pass safety requirements and emissions test

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Checking to vehicle if there are leans
      • If you don t pass ny state inspection?
      • What happens if my car won t pass inspection in ny state?
