My husband said he put pout house in my name, but there is an et al after my name on tax records. Does that mean the house does not automatically transfer to me upon his death?

Thats all up to you, it matters what you personally want to do with your home.. im sorry for what happened if your husband is now dead but anyways if the house is paid for and you enjoy it then keep it, but if your struggling with debts and such well then maybe its a good idea to sell it and get an apartment for yourself if you cannot afford a house by yourself, most people cant anyways with the economy of today, anyways follow your heart is going to be my answer :) good luck and god bless you! :D me personally when my wife died i personally left and bought an apartment
