Being only 1 day late on paying a minimum balance on your credit cards is a biggie . Also, the more credit cards you own, the larger potential for debt...so CANCEL the ones you don`t use or need....don`t just throw them out.

Someone said: This is not true. Delinquency doesn't report to the credit bureau until 2 payments are missed. Aslo credit score uses total utilization on all cards / total lines... so (in general) having large open to buy will raise your score... you have available credit but don't 'need' it, which makes you an inherently lower risk than someone with one card who's maxed out. Source: a decade in the credit industry.
