    Q. I just sold my house when di i get the money?

On closing day, money will exchange hands and your lawyer will give you a check due to you net of all expenses and mortgage balance payments.

    Q. Am i obligated to honor the buyer's request to put the money in escrow for an "as is" home sale?

    Powered by
I am currently in the process of selling my home. the contract terms state that i am selling it in an "as is" condition. the contract was signed by both parties but we have not closed on the sale yet. what is holding up the deal is the crazy demands of the buyer/buyer's attorney. they claim that there is an unreported extension on the house. the house was built in the late 40's and i assume the work (if at all) was done sometime pre-1973. i checked with the building dept. and there is no blueprint earlier than 1973. (the original microfilm is unreadable) and no reported violations or actions. i have a 1973 survey that does show the extension. the buyers attorney wants me to pay an architect to do a new blueprint or have me put 10k in escrow for what they claim is an illegal extension. i did have an engineers report that stated the condition of the house and nothing came up structurally wrong. who is responsible for this? can i still sell my home? and am i obligated to honor the buyer's request to put the money in escrow for an "as is" sale?

"It sounds like the sale isn't going to happen anyway...."

It depends on your state. In CA you have to. It sounds like the sale isn't going to happen anyway.

    Q. Can i sue her for libel?

    Powered by
I work with a guy and we became very close and he and his wife are now in the process of a divorce---which they had started long before we even became friends-cause i was out of state and had only met him a couple times before. (i didn't even know his name til after i returned to my state and he told me they were separated). we have became good friends and are very close, but we are not sexually involved with each other. we hug and kiss and hold hands, but that is it. i stay at his house a couple times a month with my granddaughter (i am raising her) and we sleep on his sofa, fully dressed, while he sleeps in his bedroom. now, his wife, in her interrogatories with her lawyer---is accusing him of adultery and basically accusing me of controlling the things he has done in relation to some property at a trailer they sold a few months ago--saying that i made all the decisions for him as to what to give away or sell (nothing has been sold except a lawn mower that was his, and it sold as a side deal from the property they sold. the money is all tied up in escrow, and no one has gotten any of the money except the bank, which got a payoff amount from the money before it went into escrow. he gave her numerous chances (via email, phone calls and personal talking to her) to come out to the trailer to get her belonging that were left in the trailer after they sold it. she came out 2 times, and got a few things, but left the rest, and never said anything about coming back to get any of it. we told her that the new owners had given a deadline as to when all of their stuff had to be out of the trailer so he could take possession, and he notified her several times of this, but she never came out. he told her that on the final day, whatever things ewere left in the house, he was going to load them up and take them to the free store and donate them. this is what he did and ow she is contacting him and asking for the new owners name so she can see if she can go out and get some of her things. he has told her that there is nothing left out there of theirs---everything was cleaned out and taken to the free store. now, through these interrogatories, she is saying that i made all the decisions--that he failed to include her in any decision-making, and that he refused to give her any of the money from property that he supposedly sold and gave away. do i have any legal recourse for her making these accusations about me toher attorney in their divorce? she has always known we have been close; and never had a problem with it (her words); i also have emails to/from her where i told her that i was not sleeping with him, and that she was welcome to come to the door of hisd house anytime she thought i was there and see that if we were there---i was always sleeping on the sofa in the living room with my granddaughter, and could answer the door within seconds of her knocking. i was celebite for over 5 years before i met him, and i still am. my ex-husband even believes that i am not having sexual relations with this guy. we are just friends-awesome friends-but plutonic !!!!

You could sue, but you would be wasting your time and money. If the allegations are true, or if she has reason to belive that the allegations she is making against you are true, then she is not guilty of libel. Let this be a lesson to you. Never, ever get in the middle of a marital dispute. It does not matter whose side you take, you will lose.
