The cashier made a mistake and entered the wrong amount, they over payed me by alot of money. we are in desperate need for money and my husband wants me us to keep it but i'm scared can i be arrested or what can happen to me?

keep it. walmart wont come after you for that type of money. they are a million dollar industry.

Do they send you a letter or take it right to court? is there a minimum amount they take you to court for? do they go after the check writer or check casher? and will they let you pay it back in installments?

Odds are they will send you a letter asking for repayment. They will sue if you don't pay. As the check casher, you're on the hook to the money mart but you can chase the writer if possible.

We are selling my car from home in exchange & mart magazine. we have had some enquires but i am just wondering if somebody turns up at our home & offers a good price & wants to take the car away then what payment is accepted, surely i am not expected to hand over £4000's worth of carin place of a cheque & surely people won't arrive with that amount of cash on them. so what should i expect?

It is either cash or a cashiers check or go to the bank and make them write you a check and cash it then deposit the cash in your bank. No other way. Do it all the time buy and sell cars fix them up and then sell for profit. I pay cash and only take cash the way i said. I have purchased a few over 6 grand paid cash.

If i get a $8,000 or $10,000 bank check could i get it cashed at a money mart in a different state? i live in phillipsburg and i am selling my car and the company will give me a banker check for the car for the amount between $8000-$10000. i do not have a bank account so i couldnt just deposit it and i need the cash asap (for christmas) and i want to know if a money-mart will take the bankers check and give me the cash right then and there. please help answer quick! thank you approx. how much will i lose in fees? and no i do not have a credit card. and could i got to the bank it is from and cash it right away or will i need a bank account there? no i wnt walk around with 10,000 dollors in cash i will quickly go home and put it somewhere. but i will get a bank account. i just need the money right away, i don't want to wait for it to process in my account, i need it for christmas and i dnt have enough time to wait.

Do you know anybody with a bank account? You could have the check made out to them (or even sign it over to them) and have them pay for the stuff you want to buy with their checks. Carrying that much cash (even for a short distance) is a terrible idea. If you're going to do it, you should seriously talk to a cop about a police escort. A Money Mart will cheat you out of quite a bit of your money? I bet they'll charge you $500.You could prolly sell your car for lots more if you sell it to an individual. You might even find someone willing to give you cash. That company buying your car has to keep the price cheap. They need to make money when they resell it.

100% scam. The check is FAKE and WILL bounce. Contact your bank and explain what happened, ASAP. There is no Bonanza, Yahoo, Nokia, Shell, BBC, Google, Coca-Cola, MSN, Microsoft, BMW or any other company in the entire world that sponsors a lottery that notifies winners via email, phone call or text. There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money. The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "lottery official" and will demand you pay for made-up fees and taxes, in cash, and only by Western Union or moneygram. Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever. Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram. You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information. Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash. Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer. If you google "fake yahoo lottery", "lotto Western Union fraud" or something similar, you will find hundreds of posts of victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Congratulations.... you have been scammed. Put the $200 back into your bank account and do not forward any money to them. Because in about a week or so your bank will realize that the check is not covered by any funds and will take back the money they fronted you for this check. That means if you sent the money to the tax agent via Western Union you will have sent real money to a scam artist and you will owe this money to your bank. this is called a SCAM. most secret shopper things are. there are real companies who employ trained marketing people to do this. if a retailer needs a secret shopper, they call these companies. unless you know how to write a 100 page report on your experience, down to the crookedness of the cereal boxes on the shelves, then this is not for you.

A knock came at my door yesterday and i found a ups envelope on my door step i was not expecting any package so i was rather cautious i don"t trust anyone. but i opened it because i thought maybe it was something from family inside were 5 - $500 dollar money orders well i started making some phone call found out everyone i spoke with says be leary so i started with a call to wall mart was told their had to be a phone number on the back ( no number), must have a buyers name even santa wroteon the top line ( again i said no they printed my name) there, these are international money orders thwey are from minnesota, the package came from a glendale california ups so ( i called ups ) they don't have a office in glendale california, so i called information and got the number for the address on the back of the money orders called it ( they were cashed in july and august) for alot less. i sure am glad i checked before i cashed them because i found out that amount of fraud is jail time.

Bring all of the checks and packaging into your local law inforcement office. These scams need to be reported to the Feds.
