There are tens of thousands packages going through USPS every day and they need to be delivered all over the country to about 43,000 different zip codes. Obviously the mail has to be first sorted into different routes and destinations. This is what a Sort Facility is for.

There is, actually, no way that we can ever know that. If I were to guess, then I would say that it probably will arrive today (Monday) - but as I have no control over the delivery process, it makes no difference what I think.

The real reason of origin post is preparing?! i placed an order online that's warehouse is canada based (kind of regret it now). and i have the "origin post is preparing shipment". i've looked online and and can't get a straight answer what it really means. some people say it's being checked by customs and some say it passed customs and in transit to the local post office or sorting facility. it's on international priority mail through usps. some say it stays like that until delivery (and that usps is horrible at updating their tracking system). i've always used dhl and ups and they keep up with their tracking for the most part and state when it is in transit (so first time with usps). the package it's self is the size of a hair dryer and worth under $100 bucks. and how fast "can" something pass through customs. sorry to add yet another origin post question/customs question. well it hasn't even been 2 days but thought i'd ask this question for anyone that's looking for the meaning in the future and using usps. ^_^ preparing shipment foreign international canada 02/04/11 12:21am dispatch foreign acceptance canada 02/03/11 3:49pm i'm located in ca

It means that the origin Post is preparing a shipment for dispatch. basically manifesting packages heading for the US. Most often, a foreign post will merge all of the packages going to one country and list a manifest of each individual package and their tracking numbers, if applicable. Once the container is full enough, it is passed to be dispatched. When the container is scanned, the status of all of the packages on the manifest will update. From what you posted, though, your package was dispatched at 1241 hrs this morning. Once it clears Customs in the US, it will be handed over to the USPS for delivery. I would not get worried until Wednesday, at the earliest.

It appears that they tried to deliver to the address in UAE. They did NO leave any notice and will try to deliver again. You can have the person in the UAE to whom the package was addressed call Federal Express - International and see if they can pick up the package. m

Contact the shipper or USPS themselves. There has been a LOT of bad weather in the United States which has been slowing down deliveries so keep that in mind.

Sorry, but there is no way to know. Some items go through very quickly, some take longer. There seems to be no particular reasons for a long or a short stay in customs. The fact that you paid for express delivery has nothing to do with the length of time it might stay in customs , only in the transit time between its various stops. In any case, it is now in the purview of the Royal Mail, not the USPS any longer. If you have to pay duty on it, then you will find that out eventually, but I do not know how that is handled. My only suggestion is that you print that information and take it to a post office to see if some one there can provide more specific information.

Hello, If your package arrives and no one is home they will leave a note on your door to let you know that they were there and you weren't home, then you will have to go to the post office and get it from there or call to reschedule another delivery. As for your first question, it means that your package was reviewed for safety measures and it has been accepted in the state of California, city of Riverside, it is currently shipping to your location and should arrive in less then 4 weeks.
