Q. Does a credit card company collect the insurance money on unpaid debt and sell the debt to collection agency who collects a debt thats already been p?

my wife and I,both 79 year old seniors, have a joint bank account at scotiabank. the only money in the account comes from our monthly Canadian government pensions. In my name alone I owe scotiabank visa $ 25,500.At the bottom of our joint account monthly statement we get from the bank it shows "MY" VISA BALANCE,AND DEDUCTS "OUR" ACCOUNT BALANCE SHOWING AN AMOUNT OWING.If I die can scotiabank seize any money from our joint account,all of which are Canada pension funds? thanks

Someone said: The Pension Diversion Act protects your Canada Pension income from being garnished or offset for unsecured debt (i.e. credit card). If you are being pressured for payment, you should seek the help of a Licensed representative.
