You can be arrested... You are RENTING that laptop to own. Until you don`t have to pay on that account that laptop is not yours.

I bought a laptop from a pawnshop and I think it was from a rent to own not fully paid off. Do I have to give it back, I didn`t know this when I bought it.

I am really sick and tired of the constant personal attacks and baseless accusations by rightwingers against other americans. it really seems like they hate "liberal" americans more than they hate our actual enemies. gernerally speaking it seems like liberals attack policy decisions, like the invasion and occupation of iraq or the patriot act, whereas cons make mostly unsubstantiated personal attacks, (i.e pelosi is a terrorist supporter). why can't cons table their hatred for once and decide to be americans again? i know both sides do it, but as i said, it seems libs attack policy whereas cons make personal attacks, as several of you just proved me right.

When you are WRONG the only thing you can do is ridicule whoever is pulling the cover off and play the victim - without ever truly revealing your intentions or the truth. Government has become way more important than the people that empowered them. Does 'the' Right or 'the' Left really matter when we keep electing representatives for the ultra elite. I have come to understand that we have purposely been divided. White / not-white, Dems / Republicans, urban / suburban / rural, old / young, etc... Instead of recognizing the true 'separation' between the Rich and twisted and the poor that pay for their lifestyles and money 'game'. We are bred to believe the 'group' we associate ourselves with and the goods we buy are who we are - we are merely resources being pawned by the corrupt control we founded this country to get away from. I have come to realize we are all AMERICANS. Until we UNITE there will be no way to achieve peace. As long as we are separated we are easily manipulated by those whose only goal is personal gain. Don't go against your own conscious, when you have 'deemed' yourself higher, or more likely, deemed yourself lower than another 'human' I feel we are allowing what OUR country truly stands for (laid out in the constitution) to transform into a completely controlled society incapable of protecting its own principles. Furthermore, I have come to believe that propaganda is pumped effortlessly by the vastly controlled media. The only way to know the truth is to dig it out from under all the attempts to hide or twist it. You must be able to come to your own conclusions. The more secluded and confusing a government becomes the more corrupt and oppressive. Look at the fall of all other great empires and you will see a pattern between their society and ours; the greater divide of the few rich and the increasing poor. Hopefully we shall not accept this eventual fate. However now it is the whole world at stake, and it really isn't our government or anyone else’s but the people that control them. Remember the golden rule, he who has the gold rules, and this has been the only consistent truth in recorded history. I served in the NAVY and love what my country is; not what we've allowed it to become. Our number one priority was and should be FREEDOM - NOT MONEY! I was a personal assistant for an ultra-elitist for some time and know how superior they regard themselves. More importantly is how the common man is nothing to them, a resource, a commodity. They have no honor or respect for our country - only gold. They have influenced us to believing the same, making them idols, like they deserve something for stealing our country's true power; Freedom. Everywhere we look there is some type of influence telling us if you buy this or that then we will become happy. It is a lie to keep you buying more, working more, paying more taxes, therefore owing more money, which will eventually break your spirit and cause you to believe that you are a result of your own doing not knowing that it is by design for you to be in debt to keep the cycle, a.k.a. the economy, going. The national deficit, which is owed to the Federal Reserve Bank (which is owned by a click of wealthy elitist families), could never possibly be paid back. The 'notes' don't even represent real money anymore, merely what we 'owe' to the Federal Reserve Bank, check Aaron Russo's movie about America and the direction we could be heading unless we wake up.

Castling has its roots in the "king's leap". There were two forms of the leap:   (1) the king could move once like a knight, and   (2) the king could move two squares on his first move. Don't make this trade. I get that you're bored and that your team is struggling, but that trade isn't fair--it's not even close. If you really want to trade Reyes, tell the league he's on the block, you'll be amazed what kind of offers you'll get (Jose is one of the best 5 players in the game at one of the toughest positions to fill). Making a trade like that isn't fair to the rest of the league and gives the other manager a huge advantage over the other teams that you aren't pawning your team off to . I don't know what your free agency is like but you could certainly upgrade over guys like Matt Stairs, Kelly Shoppach, Noah Lowry, etc. Plus you have some good players that could really give your team a boost in the second half. If you are tired of the league, it's one thing, but to screw over 8 other managers because of your boredom is quite another. I suggest you either stop paying attention to the league and start preparing for fantasy football or make some real trades and free agency moves and try and make a second half run. Good luck!

Some of these items cost like $500 at best buy. a lot of them are big-ticket items like big-screen tv's, riding lawnmowers, blu-ray players, bedroom sets, stuff like that. the company charges such a fee that it is often double, or even more that the person pays for the item in 12 or 24 months. how idiotic do you have to be to not realize you can get the same item by saving that money for 5 months, or even getting a better product for shopping around? the prices make me almost cry, because it is so criminal, and people actually pay it. you can't even say dumb, ghetto people are the only ones that buy the stuff. my dad was a well-degreed professional who made a lot of money, and he was obsessed with paying for stuff with loans. it was like he didn't know how to pay cash for anything. blame it on not understanding how to manage money.

They are legal because they are not doing anything wrong. We live in a capitalistic society, and if there are people who cannot finance furniture the traditional way (not pay through the nose interest) or pay cash outright, this is the place they go. The only way a place like this or even payday lenders or pawn shops would go out of business is if no one needed them. Buying your appliances or furniture through a rental center to most people is not bright, given the item you get and the price you ultimately pay. But, then again, there are people who use a credit card to buy their lunch at a fast food place everyday too, and carry a balance and are still paying for that lunch a year later!

I'm a big fan of the show criminal minds, but sometimes i can't help but wonder whether the accuracy with which some of the agents are able to determine tendencies about a person whom they have almost just met is on a superhuman level. for example, i was watching an episode today entitled "tabula rasa." in this episode, aaron hotchner is able to accurately predict the color of a lawyer's socks. he then goes on to say "you match them to the color of your suit to appear taller. you also wear lifts, and you've had the soles of your shoes replaced. one might think you're frugal, but in fact you're having financial difficulties. you wear a fake rolex because you pawned the real one to pay your debts, my guess is to a bookie." based on the response of the lawyer, it was evident that the profile was accurate. but, would a real bau agent be able to make such an accurate profile of someone he/she just met?

I do not think the 'speculative' profiling work depicted on the show is accurate at all. For example the idea that someone would pawn a real Rolex to pay some kind of debt and buy a fake is impractical. The real profile for a man wearing a fake Rolex is a man under 25 who is poor. No man who has ever seen a real Rolex up close would buy a fake Rolex to replace his real one. The difference between the watches is so obvious to anyone who has worn the real thing. It is also unlikely that a man under 25 could afford a real one. A used Rolex is worth very little to a pawn shop or dealer. He would be lucky to get more than a $1,000 for even a $10,000 Rolex. I know all this because I am a watch collector and understand watches. I suspect that anyone who knows shoes really well could easily debunk the 'speculative' profiling of the mans shoes as well. The same could be said for his suit.

I rented a wash/dryer recently & it was the day my payment was due & i got harassed(they called me at work - i work 9-5pm on sat. told them i would be there when i got off. they called 4times). then when i went to the store, they told me i should be there when they first opened. they tell me if i am ever late with a payment that i will be arrested.... the following situations have happened & they get away with stealing in my book... but i'm not supposed to be a day late with a payment. why is this possible? situation 1 w/ aaron's) a friend of mine/my ex roommate rented a laptop. she made 2 payments on it & moved. well aaron's called me. i explained to them that she had moved & i really had no clue where she had moved too. i didn't know otherwise i would of told them. i was not on the contract, i was just a reference. so they came to my door & i let them in & tried to prove she had moved & there was no laptop. they told me i would go to jail & i laughed & told them to get out. i told them to stop calling me, reminded them who's name is on the contract & gave them her phone number. they called me everyday for over a month & stopped. what makes me mad is she(no longer my friend) has that laptop & they have done nothing to her. she has had it over a year now. i can't believe they didn't push charges. situation 2 aaron's) i had rented a laptop from aaron's. my ex husband & i had split up - just my name was on the acct. i explained to aaron's what was going on & cont. to make payments. i finally had to stop cause i was a single mom on my own. they kept coming to my door & calling. finally after 3 months i got the laptop back. i took it directly to aaron's. they said the matter was done, i even offered to make payments on the month i did not have the laptop. i even went to the police & got a police report, but the police never found the laptop on my ex even though he did have it & there was no proof he took it. well i went to aaron's in a different location a few years later to rent from them. they said i had a 'warrant' meaning i could never rent from them again. how is this fair? i offered to pay the back payments & had a police report & they got their merchandise back. situation 3) my ex had rented a ps3 from rent a center, my name was not on the acct. & he moved out taking the ps3, they harassed me but eventually realized we were not together. they eventually left me alone. he still has the ps3. only made a payment on it - why did they allow this? situation 4) a good friend of mine had rented a living room, bedroom set, pc & wash/dryer from rent a center - she rented it all over a year. they were getting ready to move out of state & just stopped paying. rent a center came by a few times but they avoided them. then they moved out a state, changed her number. she basically made a year worth of payments & just quit & never finished paying nothing off & they never went after her. situation 5)my mom's friend rented bunk beds from rent a center & after a year she quit paying. well the bunk beds were tore up & she told rent a center to come get them - they just left them with her.

Wow, sorry you have had such a time with the RAC. It's completely and morally wrong to harrass via telelphone or otherwise... If I am not mistaken. My best recommendation for the future, as you probably already know is to avoid places like that. Often times you can find a good deal on Craigslist or at a Pawn Shop... if you haven't already checked them out. I am taking a family vacation and need to stay in touch via the internet so i can do business. the condo i am renting has wireless internet. we are driving and i really don't have room to pack my desktop computer. so i would like to rent a laptop to use on the trip. does anyone have experience renting from aaron's or rent a center? can you do that for just two weeks and what should i expect to pay? also, if i rent a laptop, can i install special software i'll need on the laptop, or will it be locked down so i can't install anything?

you would be better off getting a used one from newegg.com or some such site or even from a local pc store.not from best buy or any other big stores .or even a pawn shop.that way you can put whatever you want on it. Good Luck and have fun on your vacation!
