    Q. If i miss a mortgage payment can the bank take my equity?

"If you missed a mortgage i would suggest to be in..."

If you miss just one or two mortgage payments the bank will not take your property. Its a lengthy process which takes about 6 to 8 month. If you missed a mortgage I would suggest to be in contact with the bank and to let them know when you will make the missed payment.

    Q. Postdated check given to alberta university residence?

    Powered by
I have given a post dated check to the residence people at u of a. now i didn't get admission in the program i wanted to go but instead they gave me admission in the program that wasn't even in my 3 choices. so when i asked them if they will return my money back they said you haven't been rejected from the university you have received admission in one of the faculties at uni of alberta, but i don't wish to go there anymore because i don't want to do the program they are giving me. so if i tell the bank to stop the payment what can they do to me? there are two post dated checks total amount is approx $4500. i wouldn't have paid the money if i knew i wouldn't get into the program i want to go in but to save the room that they offered me i paid the money before i actually got my results which decided if i get into the program or not.

"Post dating a check is meaningless..."

First....check the account and make sure they haven't cashed the checks already. Post dating a check is meaningless. They can immediately put it thru for deposit if they wanted to. My bet... the checks are already cashed and the money is transferred. Now you need to cancel this course and ask for a refund. Depending on what you signed it could very well be that you won't get all of your money back.

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Please check if there is something that i miss
      • How does money mart check if there is money in the account of the person who wrote me a personal check?
      • What happens if a certified check is never cashed?

    Q. Are you really ready for obamacare?

    Powered by
Obama health care system, where the doctors and hospitals will all be working for the government, who will be paying their bills, not you the patient, who will just be along for the ride. when the government tells them not to provide medicine for macular degeneration, or cancer treatment for senior citizens because it is not "cost effective," or referrals to specialists until it is too late, the doctors and hospitals will all hop to and salute, because they will be desperate for their slice of federal funding. in this new system, everyone -- patients, doctors, hospitals, etc. -- will all be sacrificed for the "greater good," as defined by the liberal left. doctors and surgeons now refusing medicaid and medicare patients because the government won't pay them enough will find the same government is refusing them adequate payment for everyone. cost pressures will lead the government to clamp down more and more over time on payments to doctors, hospitals, drug companies, and other health providers. they will be vilified in the media just like the bank executives are now in regard to their traditional bonuses. as a result, investment will collapse in new hospital capacity and medical facilities, and development and adoption of new, cutting edge, health technologies and advanced, high tech, miracle drugs, sacrificing the interests of sick patients. this is how canada got to the point where a hospital room could not be found in british columbia for a mother experiencing accelerating birth contractions, and she had to be flown over the rockies to the next state, alberta, while giving birth, to find maternity care. human capital will flee the health system as well, as older doctors retire early and new ones choose other professions instead, further constricting care for sick patients.

I hear ya, it will destroy America

    Q. The banks wont give us a mortgage because of my partners past goof ups (late payments, master card)?

    Powered by
But that was in the past before i came into the picture. well we have been together for 3 years and want to buy a bigger home, but the banks basically tell us to go fuck ourselves. we have a large down payment (85,000) and want a house that cost about 320,000. so we aren't hurtin for the down payment. does anyone have any advice to give us, is there any other way to get a mortgage...like maybe a broker? we live in alberta. also...has anyone ever gone to a broker and actually gotten a mortgage or whatever. how much did it cost you?

"There are a lot of mortgage brokers in canada..."

Try to get the house in your name only. If you cannot qualify for the payment by yourself, but you have good credit, you will need compare the rate with both of you vs. the rate for you alone on a "no income verification" loan. 20% is a great down payment. More than that usually does not give significant benefits, but may depending on the loan type. There are a lot of mortgage brokers in Canada. Tell them what your scores are, and what you want to do. They should be able to give you information without pulling your credit so you can compare rates and fees.

    Q. Torn between parents, depressed.?

    Powered by
Today is my birthday, i just turned 17 and i got back from a long visit to vancouver to see my dad, brother, and grandmother. i was born in bc, my parents divorced when i was 4, and my mother moved with my brother and i to alberta when i was 7. i've lived in alberta 'till 9th grade which i spent in vancouver with my dad. i didn't stay long and moved back with my mother for grade 10 and have been back in edmonton since then. i think i have been depressed since they got divorced and am starting now to experience severe depressive symptoms (since the 9th grade or so) and have always felt torn between my two parents. after moving back with my mother my father and i spent nearly 2 years without visiting, and we only started talking again since last november or so. seeing him and my brother for 2 weeks this summer, i have seriously been considering what to do for this next year. i have many stresses in edmonton with my mother, because we are poor (have been cut-off from heat, i've had to pay a rent payment and an electrical bill already), i do not like my mothers new husband as he has been a huge dink to all of us for the last year or so, and he has been seeing a young girl he knew from his work (which he was laid off from) for a long time now, and has been known to be seeing her since his last major relationship. i do not know what to feel about this, as they do not seem to be having sex but i believe an emotional affair is more severe than a sexual affair, and it is extremely unfair to my mother and half brother (who is 5) and to myself. he recently withdrew $1500 from our bank account and was going to leave us with nothing but a rent payment at his mother's suggestion. after telling my mother that i do not like him around before my leave to vancouver he had a break down, claimed to never have the intent to leave us and that he sometimes thinks about killing himself because of what he does to everyone. i do see some sincerity in this, but i still do not trust/like him very much as sad as that is. my last visit to my father's house has been the happiest i have been in a long time, because when i am there i do not have as many stresses and worries as i do in edmonton, and because i miss him and my brother quite a lot. before i left my mother suggested to me that i stay with my dad for an extended period of time, until she sorted things out with her husband or perhaps longer, i have considered this option because of how awful i feel right now. i had a break-down last night and the night before because of how torn i feel between my parents and because of how terrible i feel about my situation (depression, etc). i talked to my mother for hours these last 2 days about what i should do, she said she would understand if i was to go back to vancouver, but that it may not be the best choice considering this is grade 12 and i would be graduating with people i barely know, although i do not have many good friends that care about me and i don't care a great deal for most of my friends here, which is basically saying that i would feel alone either way, although i would be going to school with my 15 year old brother next year and i like his friends etc. so in a nutshell, this is my dilemna: - i love my parents equally, and do not want to be a province away from either of them, and my brother('s) too. -i am going into grade 12 with people i do not feel close to, and going to bc would put me in a similar situation, and i don't like the schools in surrey (where my dad lives) from my experience in grade 9. -i do not know where i will be living after high school, bc or alberta, and i hate the fact that i will be away from one of my parents either way. -because of my troubled child-hood and other reasons, i do not feel ready to move out immediately (although i realize few people do immediately), but i would not like living with my mother's husband any longer than i have to. both are available to me. -i prefer bc as a province as compared to alberta, despite the people who live in either province, and can see myself living there after high school, and the friends i have here are not really a factor in this decision. ->>> what do you think i should do? it has been suggested that i start taking anti-anxiety medication or anti-depressants, and i am so unsure as to what i should do for these next few years. i appreciate any advice you can offer me, another perspective would be nice to help me get a better idea of what my options are. thank you, and i apologize for the wall of text.

"Divorce means choosing since the parents split..."

Hi, Im coming from a childhood not so different from yours. Im 24 now and my childhood was a ride to say the least. My parents divorced when I was 3 and my mom took me to live in port coquitlam from vancouver where my dad lived. Both my mom and dad chose stupid people as boy/girlfriends that just added to the pain rather than helping with it. I feel the confusion about choosing sides. I wont tell you what to do but I will tell you what helped me. If neither side can be trusted to lookout for the entire unit's well-being, then rely on yourself for emotional support. Short answer move in with your dad, you can't control ur mom so she need to take responsibility for herself, dont feel obligated to her. Divorce MEANS choosing since the parents split. Choosing doesn't mean condemnig one parent and putting the other on a pedestal, but choosing which one will best suite YOU, the victim in this mess. The internet keeps you in contact with your friends and you will make new ones if you move to b.c. Live where u are happy. You will have a lifetime to pay bills and connect with your mom, now is your time. Don't take medication. It's bad for you and doesn't solve the problem. Work out your life so medication isn't even a consideration. If not, u'll end up popping pills and living in a negative enviromnment.

    Q. Ability to obtain an auto loan right after turning the age of the majority?

    Powered by
I live in bc, canada, and the age of the majority is 19 here. i live on my own and i turn 19 in 3 weeks time. i'm looking to get approximately a $10,000 auto loan as soon as possible (after i turn 19). what are the chances i'll be approved that soon after turning the age of the majority? i don't know my credit score - i intend to find out after i turn 19, but my credit report is nearly empty (1x denied application for something in alberta). i've lived at my current address for 9 months, and my previous address for 5 years and i've been employed at my current job for approximately 2.5 years. i have fortis (the power bill) in my name and i have yet to make a late payment. i would be applying at a credit union which has been my bank since i was a small child. anyone have an educated guess on my chances of being approved with $1000 down? $3000 down? what would my interest rate likely be if i was? thanks i would just like to note i've already obtained my credit report (sans score) from equifax, and as i stated - it's clean.

"You can repay a loan or have collateral like a house/car in the event..."

The factors in securing a loan depend on your job, type of position (full time/part time), income salary and household income. You need to prove to them that you can repay a loan or have collateral like a house/car in the event should you default. By law, you can get a free credit report from Trans Union or Equifax. This takes approximately 6-8 weeks however, you can pay a small fee to expedite this service within 48 hours.

    Q. Do i have a reason to fight in small claims?

    Powered by
So this is a doozy... i was employed and was wrongfully dismissed in alberta, along with my boyfriend. the employer held my last cheque because they gave me a loan from the company (which i intended to pay back) and they assumed i wouldn't. after 6 months of fighting for my cheque, they forced us to sign a hand drawn contract for our money, stating a payment plan. i have a reciept saying the loan was from the company, which she sold, and she's trying to force me to pay her personally. she also got our t4 stolen, which contains very personal info, so several personal documents had to be changed, like bank info. her cheques haven't cleared, but she hasn't contacted me. i got a subpeona today. can i fight, based on the fact that it was bribery in the first place, as wekll as that she probably claimed the business expense and got repaid that way, plus she doesn't have the business anymore, and i was wrongfully dismissed without my record of employment still and it's been almost a year?

"Filed a complaint with labour standards on the missing pay cheques...."

You have no legal obligation to pay the former company owner directly. In fact, unless she has a document that specifically transfers your debt to her personally, it would be fraud for her to try to collect. At the same time, it was illegal for her to withhold your cheque. It needed to be paid immediately on dismissal. You were, however, obligated to pay the company their money, on whatever payment schedule you mutually worked out. All the other stuff about missing T-4s, wrongful dismissal, claims of bribery (no, it wasn't) etc, just muddy the waters, ignore them. Bring all the documentation you have to small claims, but first you should counterclaim for the amount of your paycheques, if that hasn't been paid yet. You should also have (long ago) filed a complaint with labour standards on the missing pay cheques.
