    Q. How much will interest rates rise in 2011?

"Of 1% by the end of this year and another 1% by the end..."

Hello Anon, I can only speak to the Canadian mortgage rates as I am best versed in these matters. I have been keeping a close eye on rates as it is part of my job as a Mortgage Agent. Although any rate predictions can at best be described as educated guesses there is one thing that all agree on at this point in time. (Jan 21 2011) Rates are going up! We are still close to the lowest mortgage rates in Canadian mortgage history and we have been here for quite a while now while the dust settled from what experts are calling `The Great Recession". Things are starting to improve, slowly but surely and barring any dramatic shift in the recovery of our economy rates will slowly increase. The predictions made by 6 major banks average out to a variable rate increase of 1% by the end of this year and another 1% by the end of 2012. Fixed rates are predicted to rise by 0.75% by the end of this year and another 1.21% by the end of 2012. They may be right they may be wrong, but they all agree they are going up. I hope this helps.
