"Be thankful that you have parents who care and a good job...."

If your income is that high, I would hope you could pay off your current debt. As the above poster said, talk to an advisor and put a plan together. With your income, just buckle down, stop wasting money, and pay off the debt that you incurred. You likely need to consolodate it but it really shouldn`t be a problem. If you can live with your parents until it is payed off, that will make it easier. Be up front with your parents and put an effort into looking after this. Bankrupty hurts others and suicide is not an option. Be thankful that you have parents who care and a good job.

    This answer closely relates to:

"I got a new job with an oil company..."

My name is Juliet, I am here to testify to the good work of the Dr..obasi. 2 years ago, my husband left home, he never returned, no phone calls, no letters, no emails, no sign of him anywhere. my daughter got sick with multiple sclerosis, things were so tough for me. I had lost hope, 2 years ago, i met a psychic, he said he would help me, i paid over $6800 and still nothing happened, i lost hope completely, my daughter`s situation got worse each day.last month, i saw a posting concerning the good works of the wole professionals, i gave them a try...i paid about $2000, for all three spells (Bring Lover back, Healing spell and Career spells). In a matter of weeks, my husband called me and told me he was sorry and that he wants to come back to me and that he would explain everything when he comes back, three days later, i got a new job with an Oil company, right now, my daughter`s condition is getting better each day and i trust she would be well in a matter of days.I want to thank Dr .obasi you can contact them via email:obasispelltemple@gmail.com for their efforts and for bringing my life back to normal and so close to perfection. My name is Juliet, i live in United State.PLEASE HELP ME THANK HIM....

    Q. When should i pay off my credit card balance?

    Powered by
I have a citi credit card in canada i was wondering if paying off my balance before they send out my statement, or paying off my balance after they send out my statement but during the grace period has any difference in its effect on my credit score in canada. also, i would like to know the answer to the same question but changed to if i had a credit card in the united states.

"The same credit scoring rules apply in the us..."

If you are paying in full, as long as Citi receives that payment before the due date, it doesn't make a lick of difference. I purposely make sure to pay mine a a few days just before the due date (allowing just enough time for them to post it to my account and not be late) because I take the funds out of a high savings account, and I might as well earn as much interest on the funds before I have to allocate them. Now if you weren't paying in full, timing wouldn't be as important as size of payment. Paying just the minimum over any more than 6 months and your account will be reviewed by the creditor and rates may be adjusted. It's actually very common. As long as you never go 30 days past the due date, you will never have any "late payments" on your bureau. Even continuously missing the deadline by two weeks doesn't effect your score - it stays internal. The same credit scoring rules apply in the US, except banks have different policies you must adhere to.

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Minimum credit score for a credit card in canada
      • If im late by 3 days on paying credit card bill will my credit score go down?
      • If i pay my credit card payment in full two days late what happens?
    • Minimum credit score for credit card canada
      • I was charged interest when paying credit card 2 days late?
      • Will macys credit card report late payment to credit bureau if its 31 days late?
    • Minimum credit score to qualify for credit card
      • Does paying charge offs from banks make a difference on your credit score?
      • How many days after my credit card due date am i allowed be i m considered late?

    Q. What if your canadian, any suggestions there for getting store credit cards????

    Powered by
I see lots on here for the us but nothing on canada for people who have poor credit... so my question is where can you go to get a store credit card in canada when you have poor credit ???

"Be automatically reviewed to see if you qualify for an unsecured citizens bank visa."..."

Monica is right, you should apply for a secured credit card. In addition to Hometrust and HorizonPlus (which ARE options but would not be my first choice in this respect) I'd suggest a few other options. Capital One and Citizens Bank (see below) as both are secured cards exactly like Hometrust and HorizonPlus, but where they differ is that both cards can be converted to "normal" unsecured cards if your payment and usage history warrants it after a year Hometrust and Horizon Plus will ALWAYS be secured cards, and can never be converted to unsecured cards, which means a year or two down the road you will have to either continue paying for the cards or cancel your oldest positive credit entry (which will affect your score). Now Capital One should be your first choice as their maximum security deposit is $300, and they will issue a credit line of up to $750 on their secured cards (in some cases only requiring 10% security), Citizens Bank should be your second but they will require a 100% deposit (with a $500 minimum). If all else fails Horizon Plus (100% deposit required, $500 minimum) and Hometrust (100% deposit required, $1000 minimum) will still be there waiting to take your money. Good Luck! _______________________________________ Citizens Bank Info: "To apply for a Citizens Bank Secured VISA, call us directly at 1.888.708.7800 to open a term deposit with the amount equivalent to the credit limit that you wish to have on your Citizens Bank Secured VISA. This term will be held for at least 12 months. After 12 months, your Citizens Bank Secured VISA account will be automatically reviewed to see if you qualify for an unsecured Citizens Bank VISA."

    Q. Requirements to attend university of michigan?

    Powered by
Hello, it has always been my dream to attend university of michigan. i am only a couple years into high school now but would like to know requirements to attend uofm. could you please include price for a year for a person living in canada and all other info, such as gpa etc. please try not to post a link. all help is appreciated! thanks.

"Education requirements by country select the appropriate link..."

Requirements Admission to U-M is very competitive. Our review of each application is holistic and comprehensive. Grades and test scores are very important, but we also consider many other factors such as your national system of education, the type of institution you attended, the quality of your achievement, and the suitability of preparation for your proposed program of studies. We also consider your level of English language proficiency. If you have had an irregular academic background or have been out of school for three or more years and feel that you would be successful at U-M, please submit a detailed description of your specific qualifications. Education Requirements by Country Select the appropriate link below to determine the educational requirements for your country. Canada British Columbia A minimum of four or more Grade 12 provincially examinable academic subjects during the final year. One of these courses must be English 12 where students are required to sit for the provincial exam. Ontario A minimum of five Grade 12 U courses, including Grade 12 U English and one additional U/UC course (or completion of six OACs) leading to the OSSD are required for freshman application. Students may apply during the senior year. No advanced standing credit is given for Grade 12 U/UC coursework. Students who complete programs in Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAATs) apply for freshman admission. Up to 30 credits of advanced standing may be granted on a course-by-course basis for students who have completed a three-year CAAT program. No credit is awarded for completion of a one- or two-year program. Quebec Students enrolled in the first year of a College d’enseignement General et Professionnel (CEGEP) apply for freshman admission. (Students must be enrolled in twelve academic courses, not including physical education.) A high level of academic achievement is required. Students who complete a full academic (non-vocational) CEGEP program (two or three years) may apply for freshman admission with advanced standing. Advanced standing credit will not exceed 30 credit hours. All other Provinces Completion of the secondary school program and achievement of a high standard (usually top 10% of the class) are required for freshman application. Students may apply during the senior year. Financial Support For students who plan to enter the U.S. on an F-1 student visa or a J-1 exchange visitor visa (student category), a Certificate of Eligibility for a student visa cannot be issued until you have proven your ability to provide full financial support. To obtain the Certificate of Eligibility, you must provide the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with official financial documents showing your source(s) of funds. A Financial Resources Statement form is required from all admitted international students who decide to enroll, and hold or plan to obtain the F-1 or J-1 student visa status. Estimated Costs* For F-1 or J-1 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant Student Visa Status Tuition and Fees $36,001 Living Expenses $13,122 Total per academic year $49,123 *Estimates are based on 8-month cost of attendance for 2010-2011 and are subject to change annually. Living expenses include room, board, books, local transportation, mandatory annual $1,188 health insurance fee, and miscellaneous expenses. If you are a Canadian citizen who has been admitted to the University and you have confirmed your intent to enroll and you have proven funding, you do not need a visa. Instead, you are required at the port of entry to present your passport or proof of Canadian citizenship, a certificate of eligibility for non-immigrant status (which is the I-20 or DS-2019 we provide), and evidence of adequate funding for your proposed program of study. You will then be issued an I-94 card indicating your student visa status.

    Q. How do you get credit?

    Powered by
I always here the words good credit or bad credit and i heard that if you have no credit that you will be denied a credit card and if you get denied a credit card your credit goes down, how does this work?

"And it will go down if you apply for too many credit cards etc..."

Good Credit refers to having credit issued to you - credit card(s), Line of credit, Mortgage, Bank Loan etc. and you are using it "responsibly". Some general rules of thumb... 1. Always pay the minimum payment on time all the time 2. Don't let the balance you charge on revolving (credit card, LOC) go above 50% and definitely above 75% even if you pay it off every month. 3. Use your credit every month or so but pay it off right away. You should be able to get a student credit card at your regular bank - $500 - $1000 limit. If you can't then you could get a secured credit card or prepaid credit card. These are usually only required if you have to rebuild credit. This all ties into your credit score and credit report. In Canada there are 2 main reporting agencies, Equifax and TransUnion. The Credit Score is what you are referring to and it will go down if you apply for too many credit cards etc . in a short period of time.

    Q. In 4 years i would love to move to canada, what should i do to ensure a successfull entry?

    Powered by
Ive always loved canada, growing up in detroit and going over all of the time, i think canada must be the evolved verison of america, lol. i have no criminal record, good credit, but no degree. i did fo to college for a while bu after just not knowing what i was going in for i stopped. i have always held jobs, never been fired. i work for starbucks and i know that they can get me a transfer into canada (i started this process and had corporate help me out and where to assign me but for my family abanded it to help them). how difficult is the process to get the acceptance of the canadian government and what can i do to more ensure a green card? thanks for all your help!

"You need a minimum score of 67 to even apply..."

Firstly, you need to learn a bit more about Canada. We don't have "green cards" like you do in the US. However, that is fairly minor. Secondly, it will take at least 4 years to fully complete the immigration process. We are currently working through close to a million applications already. As we only accept 250,000 new immigrants each year, you can see the importance of applying early. Mostly, please do yourself a huge favour and get an education. We already have millions of unskilled labourers so we won't be looking to accept any more from other countries. Canada, like every other nation on the earth, is looking more for educated, skilled workers with experience than anything else. I would advise you to look through http://www.cic.gc.ca and carefully review the site. We work on a points system whereby your qualifications to immigrate are assessed (ie level of education, work experience, language skills et cetera). You need a minimum score of 67 to even apply. The Citizenship and Immigration website (the one I listed above) has a self-assessment quiz for prospective applicants. If your score is below 67, then you would need to address those shortcomings before applying. That you are looking ahead 4 years will work well for you as you will have sufficient time to "fix up" any areas in which you may be lacking. Best of luck to you!

    Q. Question about loan officer and mortgage?

    Powered by
We went to go apply for a mortgage, filled out the paperwork, etc and my credit is 700 and his is over 600. he had something on his credit that legitimately wasn't supposed to be on there, so the loan officer told us if we could get that off there there would be no problem.. we definitely make enough. we got that off of his credit then contacted the loan officer. he told us he had to wait a week, waited a week, pulled it and he said that it was off there, but his credit score hadn't changed. however, i looked up some loans and i don't know what type of loan our officer is trying to approve us for because he never told us, but i've heard that with an fha loan you only have to have a minimum of 530.. and if you have a 530-580 you have to put 10% down and over 580 is 3.5% (which we have) can anyone tell me if this is true or what you think is going on here? my loan officer is very difficult to get ahold of. for example, yesterday i called 6 times, and got one call back the next day just to say the score hadn't changed.. no further instruction or advice. http://www.fha-world.com/credit-sco re-needed-to-buy-a-house-2013.html

"Work hard on that credit and paying off any cards..."

Don't trust that site. Has not been updated in years. And it's registered - Canada. 620 on FHA site, but banks won't touch you with at least 640. 1. There could be other things in his credit reports. Sounds like it. If he has credit card balance, they need to be paid to $0. Carrying balances is a fast way to destroy credit. 2. Besides the down payment, you also need closing costs. And some taxes and insurance upfront. A bank also wants to see 2 months of salary left over in savings. Keep asking questions here. Work HARD on that credit and paying off any cards. (again, something is foul with the credit reports). I have seen 2 people now buy homes with the help of people here.

    Q. Should i pay my bills, not pay, or settle?

    Powered by
I'm a 24 year old california resident. my father started a credit profile on my social security when i was 13 on a fake name. i caught him when checking my credit report. he paid all the debt off, but what i had left was an extremely good credit score when i was 18. i applied and applied for credit cards when i became 18 to collect airline miles. i collected nearly 800,000 airline miles through that and i did some amazing travelling. i had a good income coming in, but then my business crashed but slightly recovered, however, my girlfriend is a shopaholic, and i kept buying her stuff. i bought five new cars in my life. i'm 24. i just graduated college. i have $168,000 in debt. i have an income of about $7500 per month after taxes which is really good, but most of my money is going to debts, and i have to live at home with parents and have an ok living. i look at my minimum payment warnings, and they say it will take 32 years to pay off. i have three options. option 1 is to not pay. being self employed, i have the ability to dodge collectors and court actions especially since i can go to another country. i meet the requirements to get permanent residency at spain, uk, or canada. i can make the same amount of money anywhere. i can probably even stay here in california, and get away since i have foreign bank accounts. my other option is to settle my debts, but i don't know what amount card companies will settle for. my other option is to keep paying the debts on time, but it will take 32 years to pay off. i can also do bankruptcy, but given statue of limitations, and the ability to not pay bills, i rather just hide than to declare bankruptcy publically. i'm also worried that my parents will find out about this. how do i explain 168,000 dollar debt? - what if they ask me to do something that requires me to run my credit. all i can do is put a freeze on my credit report so nobody can check. i also can rent an apt right now with the good credit i have and stay in it until my credit recovers. i see no reason for moving in the future. i'm young, and i'm sure i can stay in an apt until my credit recovers which can take up to seven years.sometimes, i'm worried about my parents finding out, and i want to commit suicide. i have no morals. atheist. i believe in helping others so i can benefit back myself in some way. i don't do it for the goodness of my heart cuz i don't believe in it.

"I find it hard to believe you could really run..."

As you have no morals, you may have no qualms about lying. I find it hard to believe you could really run up 168,000 dollars in debt. It doesn't really matter what you do with imaginary debt.
Someone said: Well, the person who just commented finds it hard to believe that you are 168,000 in debt. I really don't understand that some people can make such assumptions on what they would morally do in a financial situation. As if it's nearly impossible for them to get into the situation you are in. Please don't contemplate suicide. Whatever your personal beliefs are, whether or not you believe in God, I don't think that killing yourself will do any justice to what you have done. There's nothing that you can't get out of. You have to remember that. It's not the end of the world if you're in debt, and if you have to go to another country to cope with it, then do so. On a purely ethical point of view, I think you shouldn't. I think that you can find a way to live with it and get 'er done and over with. Your life isn't over, you get to decide that, not society. If your parents finds out, maybe it would be for the best. I mean, I know maybe you're ashamed of your debts and you don't want them to look down on you, but ultimately they are there to help you in whatever way they can. You can explain to them what got you there in the first place, and it will be like having a load off your shoulders. PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. IT'S NORMAL, YOU ARE HUMAN. I know some people are out there that are worse off financially, so don't feel so bad. I've done my share of idiotic financial decisions in my youth, but you either strive to keep going or you give up altogether. Giving up is the most foolish thing you can do, not getting yourself into debt. So keep on trucking. I suggest you tell your parents, or someone close to you so that you're not going to feel alone in this ordeal. Secondly, seek out some help with trustworthy organizations. Do your research. I am pretty sure, you are not the first one to have gone through this in this world, and you won't be the last.
Someone said: Also, if you cannot handle your debts and you are at your ends wit, then declare bankruptcy. It's an honest way of saying, ya, I'm in this whole I can't dig out of.

    Q. Im turning 18 - should i get a secured credit card?

    Powered by
Im going to university next year. i want to build my credit because i think in my 3rd year university, i might need a student loan.. so i think i should start building credit now, and secured credit card is a very safe way ( i think) should i get one? no you dont need credit for student loans in canada.. but you need a cosigner if you dont have credit. and absolutely noone will cosign for me because my family has bad credit.. that's the problem :( i do have a chequing and savings account. =/ guys thanks for helping out but im 110% sure that you cannot get a student loan without verifiable income if you're under the age of 21, or unless you have a cosigner. im 10000 percent sure. that's how it is in canada. that's why i cant get a student loan and why i would need to build credit now, and i cant get a credit card, only a secured one. there are government loans but they give a maximum of 12k a year. im going to a university far away (which i shouldnt be, due to my financial circumstances) which is why i would need student loans, eventually.

"Private student loan without a co-signer in canada or not..."

I agree that you should check the Canadian laws and speak to your financial advisor. But, will also add that students who have to resort to private loans in the US, DO usually need a co-signer. In case any US students are reading this, you can get a certain amount of government loans (the amount varies by which year you are in school). You do not need a co-signer for government loans. The only way that you can get them is by completing the FAFSA each year http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. That website, of course, is for US students. But, I'll bet there is something similar for Canada. Talk to your guidance counselor for help (if you're still in high school). Or, if you're already out, call the school you're planning on attending and ask to speak to their financial aid department. One of those folks should be very helpful with Canadian laws. ADDITIONAL INFO: Going back to your original question on whether it would help build your credit enough if you do need your own without a co-signer: I don't know if a couple of a years with a credit card would be enough to get a private student loan without a co-signer in Canada or not . I know that my niece had to take out a private student loan, after exhausting federal loans in the US recently. Even though she's had her own credit card for two years, her dad had to co-sign for her. Credit cards are the fastest way to build credit - but I just can't say if it will be "fast enough" (I kind of doubt it). If you do decide to go ahead and apply for a credit card, be sure to apply for a "student credit card". They're marketed specifically to students and are fairly easy to get in the US. Not sure what your Canadian laws are. If you're a college student in the US, you don't need a co-signer even if you're under 21 and you don't need to make much money. Basically, you have to be able to make the minimum payment. I can't tell you if that is the same in Canada, or not. My daughter has a student Discover card and loves it. If you use her referral link here: https://www.discovercard.com/cardmembersvcs/acqs/app/getapp?sc=RHZD&iq_id=yraf_1024246813_fb_15_850731, you'll get $50 cashback bonus when you make your first purchase and you'll get cashback bonuses for everything that you purchase. There's no annual fee and the APR (annual percentage rate) is fairly good. It ranges from 12.99 to 19.99%. But, it really doesn't matter how much the APR is if you pay your balance in full each month. As long as you pay in full, you'll never pay interest. If you use a credit card wisely, it can be a great tool. But, you can also ruin your credit, so whichever card you end up getting, just be certain to use it the right way. Use it for convenience (paying at the pump, making reservations online, etc.) and to build credit. Don't use it to buy something that you can't afford. Use it at least once a month for something that you need to buy anyway (gas, food, etc.). Set that money aside immediately so that you have the full amount when the statement arrives. Pay in full, but don't pay before the statement prints. Keep your utilization at, or below, 30% of your available credit to develop the best credit score. In other words, if you have a $1,000 limit on your card, you shouldn't have more than $300 in use at any one time. Just don't let temptation to get to you!! It's too easy to spend money that you don't have. Be smart, and a credit card can be a wonderful tool, both to help build credit and for convenience.

    Q. Will i get approved for a used car loan? (canada)?

    Powered by
Ok heres my situation.... i have a 629 transunion score (credit bureau) gross income = 38500/yr net monthly pay (after taxes) = $2316 (1158 bi-wkly) i'm 23 years old, have 3 active credit accounts. 1 installment loan, $10k balance.. $240/month 2 visa's... 3200 balance, 3500 limit & 1700 balance, $2000 limit. i also have a closed car loan which was paid out as agreed that was worth $20,000 when opened. my 629 score is rather low, but i'm assuming its because of my relatively high credit card balances and only 5 years under my belt of credit history.... i'm applying for financing through an audi dealer (i believe volkswagen finance) for $24000... (havent decided if i want to trade in my free & clear 2000 honda prelude black book value of $5000.) its a 2006 audi a3 2.0t... obviously this financing would be secured against the vehicle but im worried i wont get approved because of my high visa balances and perhaps my networth.. my savings are all in rsp's... and that 10,000$ personal loan is dragging down my networth... other then that my monthly liabilities are next to none.... $240/month personal loan $110/month insurance $70/month cell phone $50/month utilities (help parents) $85/month visa's combined minimum payments = $555/month tied down right now or 23% of my total income is dedicated to liabilities.... what are my chances of being approved for this vehicle? oh and my repayment history is flawless, no late payments on my credit bureau, never any items in collections.
