    Q. Where do you go to apply for welfare in montreal, quebec, ca?

    Powered by
I have been in montreal 2 weeks. originally from ontario. since i have been here, i have lost all my id except my passport. i need to get welfare, so i will have enough money to reapply for my birth certificate and the rest of my id such as my health card and sin card, so i can get a job here in montreal. i am currently on pie ix, does anyone know the closest place to apply for welfare in this area? *note* it is important i get this information from someone that actually knows montreal. i do not want someone to randomly search the closest place on google maps, because i was told the closest welfare place had been moved, so please someone with experience answer this question. thank you so kindly.

"La solidarité sociale is to give you welfare assistance..."

Call the number provided in the link the Ministère de L'Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale is to give you welfare assistance . Normally you should provide with id cards etc but indeed you may qualify for "emergency help" so do not hesitate to contact them. Good luck.

    Q. Am i eligible for welfare?

    Powered by
Okay, well. stuff has been really complicated and hard for me money wise. i am almost 20 now, and was moved to montreal with my parents a couple years back, and still haven't managed to pick up french, so finding work is very hard. i have been looking constantly, but no luck. plus the living situation at my parents isn't great, my stuff is going missing, and i know that it is because they are pawning my games and consoles, and things of that sort. i've done some thinking, and i have decided that i am going to enroll in a french course! so i could finish my high school, and get a job. and hopefully move back to bc, which is where i came from. do you think i would be eligible for welfare, or social assistance? that way i could pay for a decent french course, along with any books i may need, and a bus pass to get me to the course, and help me travel around while looking for work. please give polite, and serious answers!!! i am tired of my living situation at home, and am looking for a way i can take care of myself while getting my french taken care of. that way i can get out of here. :(

Sadly, as you still live with your parents, the answer is no. bd

    Q. How can i get a copy of my previous apartment lease?

    Powered by
I moved from montreal to toronto and i need proof of residents that i lived in montreal for my student loan. i lost my lease for that apartment and now i have no idea how i can get one copy? i called my previous landlord for a copy and or write me a letter stating that i used to live in that apartment but he said he would look for that lease. i know my previous landlord and he is very lazy and doesn't have much care for others when you ask him for help. now i am wondering if there is anyway i could receive a copy some other way...... maybe the quebec revenue or the canadian government might have it. i also took welfare from there so i am wondering if there is anyway i could get it from there.. please leave me suggestions or advice. your help will be greatly appreciated.

"If he's not being helpful you can try and obtain it from the welfare office..."

The best way is to try and get it from your landlord, if he's not being helpful you can try and obtain it from the welfare office( chances are if you were on welfare or some government program you had to give them a copy) they keep there copies, at least in the states they do.

    Q. I have a sad story.. and i don't want your ears to hear it. i need major oral surgery.?

    Powered by
At the age of 13, i was taken to a dentist in montreal for a dental procedure. i was a welfare pupil in foster care at the time. i woke up from that procedure missing all my teeth but 9 at the bottom which i still have. i was fitted for a denture prior to entering 7th grade. i am now 56 and i need oral surgery to rebuild my mouth. i am in good health but have the mouth of a toothless 85 year old. i am told i need to do something now as my jaw is slowly disappearing - bone resorption. i saw an oral surgeon locally, and the bill for this type of work is close to 85k. i don't have the funds to move ahead. i would like to know if someone could help. i have hidden my condition all my life. i now live in il. my husband could never obtain dental insurance for me given that i did not have teeth. seems funny but it is what it is. again, can someone help me? thanks. d.

Really. So your asking total strangers for their hard earned money. Fine! I am in desperate need of money too. I need about 1 million to help out of friend mine. Her son has cancer in is brain. The money will help with his treatment and for his family that will be with him at the hospital.

    Q. Denied admission to the states - i am a canadian citizen?

    Powered by
Hi there, me and my girlfriend are stuck and can't see each other. i am a 20 year old canadian citizen, my girlfriend is 18, she lives in the united states. we have been dating for 2 years now, i have been going back and forth to the united states to visit her. i used to plane to go visit her each time. i went for last june, again in for christmas, march break and again this summer and every time i only stayed 9-10 days and returned. this summer we wanted to bring her to visit canada for the first time, she has her american passport. so i drove all the way from montreal to the ambassador bridge to cross and pick her up and bring her back. i was pulled over, questioned and denied entrance to the united states. they suspected that i was going to permanently move there because i had a lot of clothes packed. so then we decided that she should cross to come and see me instead. so i sent her money and she gets on a bus on her way to montreal from the states. and our bad luck, she gets denied and can't come to canada either. she was denied because her ticket was a one way ticket and she only had 20$ with her which was not enough for a ticket back? anyways, now we don't know what to do , we haven't seen each other for so long and we had a lot of plans. please help us. how serious is this? do i need to get a lawyer? what should i do ? should i go back and try again with the documents? am i being flagged? below is the letter they gave me when i was refused: ----------------------------------- ---… dear traveler / applicant for admission: at this point in time you do not appear to be clearly admissible to the united states as a temporary visitor for pleasure. in order to satisfy u.s. officials as to your status and intentions, please provide this office with the indicated items below: o proof of citizenship / evidence of immigration status o police clearance oevidence of employment (recent pay stubs, employee id, letter from employer, etc). oproof of foreign residence (recent rent receipts, copy of mortgage, utility bills, etc). oevidence of financial support (bank statements, savings and checking account statements, income tax report forms, etc). oevidence of financial assistance (receipts or government correspondence of unemployment insurance, mother's assistance, welfare, disability, etc). oevidence of educational ties (valid school identification, letter from school officials on school letterhead). autility bills (recent phone, gas, electric/hydro, bills, etc). oincome tax return forms (current and past year). oconfirmed return date (airline tickets, train/bus tickets, date specific). osufficient funds for intended trip (cash, traveler's checks, etc). ocontact name of family member, friend, or individual who you, the passengers, is/are travelling to see in the u.s. oaddress and/or telephone number where you can be reached in the u.s. oother items: ***this list is intended to be used as a guideline only to assist you in returning with the necessary materials to help you sufficiently meet the burden of proof which is incumbent upon you as an applicant for admission to the united states. this list should not be considered to be allinclusive. the final determination is always made by an officer after all items are considered.

You were denied entry for that trip, but not barred from entry for the next so many years. In fact, nothing is stopping you from going down to the border and trying again this weekend. What I would suggest is that you read that letter that they gave you. They are suggesting that you bring with you proof that you plan to return to Canada when the trip is over. Showing that you have a home (tax bill) in Canada, a job (pay stub), a bank account, your income tax return for last year, etc are usually enough to show you plan to go back. If refused, I believe that you also have the option to discuss the refusal with a supervisor. I would ask them to check your past history of border crossings, perhaps have them call your girlfriend in USA to confirm your trip and any facts you gave. Likewise, on her end when she comes into Canada, she can have a letter from you showing that you accept responsibilty for her while she will be in Canada, and that the reason she has no return ticket is because you plan to drive her back after the visit is over. Cross-border relationships are very difficult and can be very stressful. Things like this can come up, and you have to deal with it. All I can suggest is that you try again with the documents that they recommend, or contact Customs & Border Protection (US) or Canada Border Services Agency to discuss it with one of their representatives by phone. The worst that could happen is that you try to lie to them or sneak across....Then you can get fined, end up in jail, and at minimum be barred from crossing for five years.

    Q. Financial problem going to destroy my family?

    Powered by
Im a college student and im in a dilemma. my family and i have just moved to toronto, ontario and i just transfered from vanier college from montreal quebec. college in toronto cost me about 3500$ per year and my family is on welfare and my dad haven't found a job to support the family. we are barely surviving and i feel really bad for my father who is 46 year old. im only 20 and i feel the need to help him but my father is pushing me to finish school. what should i do? put a hold on my school and support my family or finish school with the help of my osap ( ontario student assistant program ). we are a family of five and i have two younger brother; 13 and 5, and my mother whom is ill to work. now, what should i do?

The financial problems you are talking about are the responsibility of your parents, not you. I also don't agree that your family will be destroyed by financial issues alone. Your dads advice is very sound, and I don't think you have much choice in the matter anyway. Yes, you have OSAP available to you, and given your families financial situation, you don't have the option to squander your future in a misguided effort to help your family. You may think that you have a right to self sacrifice. But your parents didn't have children so they could be simply consumed in the wake of their problems. You have a lifeboat available to you, and it only has room for one at the moment. With your future better secured, your parents can turn their focus on the ones who need their support even more. So you do your job, and take care of your future while you can, and let your dad do his job of providing for his family the best way he can.

Do you want to pass the AP exam? Or do you just want a good grade? Because if you really want all your hard work in the class to count...this is not the way to do it. I took the APUSH exam last year, and it's not easy. Cheating online may seem like a good idea now, but when you're sitting in that testing room next May and you don't know anything you're going to regret it. You'll be hurting even more when some colleges don't accept you because they see that you did poorly on an AP exam. Go do your own homework, okay?

The problem is that you apparently convinced a US Immigration Officer that you planned to illegally immigrate to the USA. For example, you said you "drove...to the ambassador bridge to cross and pick her up and bring her back" yet you had a "lot of clothes packed". Giant red flag. You now need to basically prove you will return to Canada on schedule, and are almost certainly listed as a suspected illegal immigrant. In short, you have attracted the attention of the bureaucracy. Best is for your GF to talk to a US immigration attorney on your behalf rather than try to navigate the bureaucracy on your own. She can search "immigration rights groups" for sources of low cost legal advice. It's not clear if your GF is in the same situation with the Canadian immigration authorities. You might want to speak with a Canadian immigration attorney on her behalf if it appears her entry denial is a continuing problem. Good luck!
