    Q. If i port and exsisting mortgage to a new house and need to borrow more money do i need a down payment for the whole amount or just the new amount?

If there is not enough equity then you would need to put a down payment for the blended mortgage amount needed to close your new home purchase.

    This answer closely relates to:
    • Least amount needed for any small industry

    Q. How much down payment needed for recreational property?

"The higher the down payment the better chances you will get a loan...."

ON Canada - what kind of recreational property are you looking at? It may range from 20 to 45% depending on what the property is. The higher the down payment the better chances you will get a loan.

    Q. Someone owes me a lot of money and says they will pay me but don't, what should i do?

    Powered by
It all started as close friends (which i think he got close to me bc he knew that i had money). then after a long time of knowing eachother he wanted me to lend him money. i was a nice friend so i did it bc he didn't have a job and he had a friend that was going to get him a job in lakeworth, fl. mind you we live in miami, fl. thats a far drive (1 hour and 30 mins). he needed a car so i did him the favor. i want to take him to small claims court but i only have three checks that i wrote. one was under his full name and it was for a car down payment for $2000.00. the other two was was to renew his license for $16.00 and the other $247.00 to pay a ticket. i am working on going to the dmv to get the receipts that i was the one that paid for this. i also paid $200 for his insurance to get the policy. i have a letter from the insurance company stating that my credit card was deducted that amount for the person in question. i also bought a laptop (which i have the receipt with upc bar code of the item) that cost me $532.00 bc he said he needed it for his job. i have made numerous attempts to contact this person through phone & through messages. they changed their number. its been about 5 months hes owed me this money. he started working in october of 2008. they have responded through messaging but on myspace. i have all the conversations saved but don't really know if this is enough evidence. i don't know where else to collect evidence. i am just stressed out bc of this situation. i never thought they would do this to me bc i helped them get there life back together. what should i do? please help.

sounds like you've been done. definately get him to court like. dont think you will get it all back but 50% of somethin is is a lot better than 100% of nothin

    Q. Credit card choices?

    Powered by
I am 22 and have immaculate credit. i am very responsible with my money, and on the payment i have had in the past, i have always paid over the minimum and before the due date. recently, i have had a friend screw me out of a decent amount of money [that's what i get for trying to help out and be supportive] and bc of that i am severly hurting for money right now. i work 3 jobs, but the bills are all due soon. what i'm getting at is i need some advice as to which credit card would be the best for me to apply to. i dont know much about them, but maybe what rates to look for? should i go for a chase? or what? thanks! also, i get credit card offers in the mail constantly, should i just pick one of those? can they be trusted? i'm so credit-dumb! also [again] there is no hope for getting the money back. i am insanely responsible for my age, and have no doubt in my abilities to keep up with my payments, but i refuse to paya bill late.. unless i get the money now, i will have to.

Go to American Express and get one for 12-15 months no interest. If you have good credit then you should be good to go. The good thing about American express if you ever have a problem with something you can return it and American express extends factory warranty's and have great customer care.

    Q. Is this legal? can he do this to us??? (10pts for anyone who knows, thanks!!!)?

    Powered by
Hi everyone - i lost my job two years ago and my husband was laid off at the same time (automotive jobs, both of us), and he just recently went back to work full time. i have been at home raising our kids (one baby and a nephew we adopted due to a sad family situation). the circumstances caused us to file for bankruptcy in 2010. we did everything we needed to and reached a settlement with the trustee's attorney to pay "x" number of dollars with a lump sum portion up front and a monthly payment until the total amt was reached. we did the lump sum, we've made all of our monthly payments on time, we have 4 left. after we reached the settlement and agreed to the terms we were told (in writing) that our bankruptcy would be discharged on "date", 2010 and that was final unless we defaulted on a payment (which we have not, and will not). today our attorney called and said the trustee's attorney (hes the one we make our monthly payments to) wants to see our income tax return information. we will be receiving a return this year, and honestly, its not a huge amount, but it would make a huge difference to our family. my question is, can he take our return money from us? i thought this was over, all said and done? the bankruptcy has been discharged, so why does he want to see our taxes? could he just be making sure we didn't lie about anything (we didn't)? im terrified we are going to be legally obliged to hand over this money and its killing me bc this would be the first time in 3 years that we've had a little in the bank and not have to worry every time we go grocery shopping or one of the kids needs shoes or something expensive. does anyone know why he wants to see our info or what hes legally allowed to request once he sees it?? oh and i respectfully ask that you plz don't answer if you're not sure, i don't want to get any more worried than i already am. thank you everyone!!! thank you so much....im so worried.... ps: yes, we have a call into our lawyer (it was his asst. who called my husband, not him), but until he gets back with us, im trying this for info. im scared! this was finally going to change our situation...

Pretty routine request from the Trustee's Attorney. We use the term "Due Diligence", meaning that although you have met the terms required, it is still his responsibility to thoroughly investigate your financial picture. There is nothing to worry about as long as you have met the agreed upon terms. Your return is secure, and he has no right to attach further to your finances unless you breach the terms. In the event of a breach, if he had not inspected your finances as he is required, it would be his firm that could be held culpable for negligence to cause satisfaction.

    Q. Ok, guys i really need your help?

    Powered by
I have a 1995 honda accord and i just found out the engine blew so it's $2200 to get fixed and right now i just dont have it, i found the perfect car it's also a 95 honda but it's a 2 dr with a sunroom the bumber is messed up but i can switch it with my old honda my question is what parts of my car can i sell for parts and make good money off of so i can have my down payment for my car? bc some man was telling me i can make a pretty good amount off of the part of my car plz help! where would i sell this stuff on ebay? or where exactly im trying to get money for it at least by the end of the week!

Well, if you're going to sell off the parts on eBay, it will take longer than a week. The biggest ticket items from your old car would be the rims & tires. List them individually to help maximize your potential profit. Taking pictures of other parts, such as the doors would be best after you removed them or atleast know someone who can remove them for you pretty quick. Spare tire & jack, radiator, seats <if in good condition>, transmission<if you can remove it, otherwise I would exclude it from eBay>, and so on can really bring in some money. If you have a local paper that has a section for vehicle parts, you can also list the main items there, such as rims, tires, transmission, and radiator. If you list those locally, then you can have the seller remove the transmission/radiator since that will take time to do it right. I have purchased a lot of parts through the local Bargin Finder, including transmission, doors, and engines. Some of which, I removed myself. You might also find someone who would buy the whole car, but my experience is that you will make a lot more money by parting it out. When you're done, then sell the frame to a junk yard. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

    Q. Am i being ripped off by a landlord?

    Powered by
Here's my little story: prior to moving to canada (bc) on august, i found the perfect place via www.rentbc.com. not hesitating a single moment, i contacted the landlord via e-mail and asked for all the requirements i needed in order to secure the place upon my arrival. he asked me for the first month's rent ($575 can) and a possible damage deposit due when i arrived. i sent him the payment via paypal, he confirmed it with his bank, and we were done. coming from mexico, i gave him a tentative date for mid-august. however, due to complications from my visa processing, i wasn't able to arrive when i told him i would. that exact day he sent me an e-mail remembering me i had missed my first orientation at the university, and that he suspected me of being a scammer. he wrote that the only way for him to be sure i wasn't a fraud was to send him another month's rent as soon as possible - when i gave him the first month (september.) uncomfortable with his request - and the thing of not trusting in me after i showed him the proper admission documents from my university - i decided to break the deal. there was no contract signing, nothing that could legally bind me to continue with the renting. i told him i wasn't going to continue with his demands, and claimed half of the payment i made ($287.50,) keeping in mind it wouldn't be fair if i decided to claim the entire amount after making him lose 2 weeks of his time. he denied to offer me this refund. here comes the interesting part. he was so sure that i was a scammer, and remarked: "if you want a refund, i'll give it to you personally on [insert specific date] at noon in [insert specific place] on the university." at this moment i knew he was defying me. i agreed to his plan, but wrote: "i'll accept your proposition, but if we're to meet, then i'll have my full refund." he agreed. the mentioned date came. i was accepted at the last minute and was making my way to the university. before leaving my apartment, i sent him and e-mail, waiting for him to acknowledge he would be there as established. noon. 12:15. 12:30. 12:45. he never appeared. i got my laptop off and checked my e-mail. no responses. i then wrote him another message, reminding him i was there. he replied at 7:00 pm, writing a message that was so out of place. "oh, it's good to know you're here and that you're studying [insert major,] and remember, you're still my roommate, what are you waiting for?" i was like: "what the hell are you talking about? i'm not your roommate, i just want my money back!" three weeks have passed since then. after endless e-mails and moods of persuasion, i haven't been able to recover my money. paypal couldn't help me anymore because they can only recover money for transactions made on ebay. the last time he responded he wrote: "please let me alone, i won't give your money back, it's non-refundable!" now, out of the sudden, it's "non-refundable"? he sent me two "roommate agreements," and nowhere in his couple of lines stated the first month's payment was "non-refundable." my final questions are: 1. can he actually do that? i haven't heard in my entire life as a college student about a month's rent that is non-refundable. that's why there are "damage deposits," right? i never placed my feet on his soil. 2. tell me if i'm right or wrong, but i think if there's any legal defense he can use against me in not returning the money i paid him, he actually broke them all when he offered me to refund my money personally, right? you will never offer something back if you know it's yours legally. can i sue him? can i go to the local police and build a case? thank you for reading. best advice gets - of course - 10 points. note: i have all original e-mails in which the landlord told me about the agreement. he refused to commit to what he promised - my refund - on written fashion. note 2: actual deposit was to be paid when i arrived at the amount of $250 can.

"Money back is to sue him in small claims court..."

You said "he remarked" which seems to mean a verbal conversation. You cannot sue for verbal conversations. The only way you can get your money back is to sue him in small claims court , and from what you described, you do not have a strong case. He did promise you the apartment, you're the one who backed out. You can sue if you like. Consult a lawyer; it would be a lot more informative than Yahoo!Answers. This is not a police matter. You should have taken a hotel for a week or two and rented your apartment after you arrived.

    Q. Bankruptcy/child support??

    Powered by
My fiance has a son from his ex girlfriend. he pays her $312 a month. which he thinks is a little low and can afford a little more. this amount was decided less than 2yrs ago in court. he's never missed a payment.. comes from his check and everything. he sees his son quite often (even though nothing is in writing bc they agreed to not have to go to court and just have a verbal agreement between them) as of i believe sept of last year, she has been in the process of filing for bankruptcy. it just went through about a month ago when she had her court date.well last year around the same time...we got an order for a readjustment hearing. he submitted all the paperwork he needed to (neither one needed to be present) and it doesnt look like she submitted all hers. on the order... it states his son's name as her last name not his! which is not the case at all! so she's painting the picture that he's not around and that he's a dead beat dad. also not the case. him and i are having our own child due in 6wks.. and he is in no way shape or form a dead beat dad or man! we got the paperwork back from the hearing with their new "suggestions" it's $789.00/month! how does it almost triple he hasnt changed jobs or had a drastic pay increase but she has changed jobs and makes more money than she used to (still less than him though) would this have anything to do with her filing bankruptcy? we have a lawyer bc we're appealing it, and he meets with him on thursday... and now she has to either get a lawyer or represent herself (they will not appoint one to her) has anyone else been in a similar situation or can shed some knowledge? i'm completely clueless on his rights and what not. thanks!

He just needs to tell his lawyer everything, bring paystubs, anything and tell his attorney to contest it. Unless hes making considerably more than he was when the original support was decided, his mount should not change at all. She can try what she may but getting it is another thing. Never hurt anyone to want. Good luck

    Q. Do i really owe when was separate?

    Powered by
Ive been married for a year now and i want a separation. all you need to know is we have never lived together. his bills have never come to my house. i have never signed for anything. i have never pushed him to spend crazy amounts of money. and in the past 6 months there are many months where he wont even help me with my rent or food. he lives up in northern canada but we all are from the southern part of bc. i have 2 children with him. they both live with me. my income last year was 10000 and his was 90000. now i want out of this marriage and he said he will sign a separation agreement with me. in this agreement he states we shall be responsible for our own debts. but if he decides to declare bankruptcy or to just not pay these bills can the bill company's come back on me? and if we sign an agreement where he stats to handle his bills and it goes threw the courts and they agree can the bill company's come after me then? these are the kinds bills i have 1000 master card. this is his bills 8000 over draft 10000 line of credit, 10000 rrsp loan 16000 credit cards, that's what he has done in a year. before we where married he also has a amex now owing 25000 that ive been trying to pay off but making payments of 400 a month isn't going any were.

In such kind of complicated situation, I would suggest you pay a visit here http://www.DebtFreetips.info I had good experience with there when I met the serious debt problem before.

    Q. My attorney kept my child support check?

    Powered by
My question involves child support in the state of: mi recently, my ex was made to start paying support retroactive to july, in the amount of $560 per month. my ex is self-employed, and the state cannot garnish his checks. (i have another child, whose father's checks are garnished and the support is directly deposited into my bank account.) the plan was, and states in the court order, that the payments will go to my attorney and she shall give me the check. my ex recently made a payment, and i received a letter from my atty stating this. however, there was no check in the envelope. upon calling her office, i was told that she was keeping the money to apply to her bill. this seems shady because my father has always paid her - they have a contract and payment plan. my father has been paying her for years, for both children. my attorney is aware i cannot afford her on my own, and never could. my dad is well-off and generous and loves his grandchildren and is happy to pay. when i reminded my atty of this, she told me that their payment plan was "no longer good." that's weird because my dad and i had met with her the week before and she never said anything about being unhappy with the payment plan. if the check was directly deposited into my bank acct, i don't think anyone would expect me to pay attorney fees with it. it's for the child, is it not? it's also not counted as normal income. is this legal? ethical? is there anyway i can change the court order to get the payments made through the state website? (unemployed, or self-employed parents can pay through a state website.) or is it too late bc it's in the court order? we agreed no one could object to the order and waived the 21 day waiting period, b/c the order also allows parenting time for my ex and he didn't want to wait 21 days, and i didn't want to wait 21 days for child support. what can i do? i feel this is wrong? (even if legal) - child support is for the child, and i need it. i was married twice, big deal. txguy: her bill is paid - she has a payment plan w my dad, who over the years has paid over 20 grand to her. my take, she saw more cash and decided to keep it.

"Is she allowed to keep it for payment of unpaid funds regardless of any..."

No, it is not legal for the lawyer to cash that check. Nor is she allowed to keep it for payment of unpaid funds regardless of any payment or non payment. Get proof of payment from your dad and talk to another lawyer.

First off i would like to say that i know i messed up. so please no comments about how much i suck, how stupid i am, or anything else rude because i'm looking for helpful people and answers..and i do give best answers. i was working at saks fifth avenue off 5th (high end outlet mall store)in september. one day i saw a pair of gucci sunglasses i wanted so i took them, slipped them in my pocket, went in the dressing room to remove the buzzer from the sensor remover and stole them. i also took a cardigan sweater in the dressing room left it in there a couple days, removed the buzzer and started wearing it until people thought it was mine. i sucessfully took these things no problem. then a couple of my co workers got fired bc when one person got caught they told on everyone. i was so nervous but nothing happen to me. a couple weeks later i bought a pair of leggings on my lunch break, put them on removed the tags then walked up to the register to pay..i then realized my money was in my car. i gave the cashier my wallet and tags and told her i would be right back...halfway out to my car the asset protection guy came running and told me i needed to come with him. i explained about the leggings and he told me it was fine but i had to confernence call corporate to explain to them. to make my long story shorter... they had hints i had stole and basiclly made me confess to stealing. ok as for my punishment.... i didn't have to go to court or anything. all they did was make me sign a paper stating that i owed $327.98 to saks fifth avenue and i would mail in payments of $50 every month until it was paid off and i would never be allowed in any saks fifth avenue store again. and that was it. last week i sent in a money order and it's all paid off. my question is...will this be on my record forever that i stole merchandise from my work or is everything done and over? it was a simple contract and i didn't really recieve any punishment. i was 18 years old when this happen. 1. will this show up on a background check? 2. do i have a record and would it show up on a background check? 3. am i considered a crimminal? 4. how will saks fifth avenue know i'm not allowed in their stores if i walk in one in a differnt town 10 years from now? anything will be helpful and i do give best answers!! thank u 7 hours ago - 1 week left to answer. additional details also... i have the items and they said they're mine to keep since i paid for them(the amount i owed) ***the amount i was paying was for the things i stole. there were no other fees or charges.

It will not show up on a background check because no criminal charges were filed. You are not considered a criminal because it was all handled in house. The only way a future employer would find out is if you listed Saks in your application and they contacted them. Nothing will flag you if you go into a different store ten years from now; unless you use a credit card and they have some type of record system to check names against when purchases are made...I highly doubt such a system is in place though.

If you weren't prosecuted, you don't have a criminal record. They won't know it's you walking in to a store - they're not going to have your picture stuck up on the wall - but if someone recognises you, they may be able to sue you for breach of contract, depending on what you signed. It's probably not worth the bother - shop somewhere else!
